My husband and I went to dinner here for my birthday with high hopes, because the house is gorgeous! But the landscaping is horrifying and the patio was very dirty. The food was alright, we both got fettuccini pastas- the sauce was not the greatest- pretty much very disappointed in my experience as the appearance is very nice and could be a really cool place if someone actually cared! I would have loved to view the rooms, but the waitress said she didn’t know if they were even clean. Not worth $75.

Holy cow what a place. Great food and atmosphere, expect a bit higher price tag on the steak but we had a great dinner for two with cocktails for less than $150. We did not stay for the night but Hillsboro and the surrounding area has a lot of great hiking and river trails this spot would be perfect and the place looks cozy!

People either rave or hate the place it seems… I loved the menu but felt the food doesn’t live up to expectations. The lobster bisque is the same as their lobster sauce with no lobster meat or oyster crackers and condiments like butter and sour cream were just thrown on the table in packets… Over all it was ok and maybe a different selection would yield better results. The server was fantastic. Willing to give it a second chance.

We have eaten there many times over 8 years. Unfortunately they got rid of the table linens and cozy lighting for Formica table tops and bright LED lights. No more outdoor seating nor outdoor music. Landscaping full of weeds. Same menu as always. Food is good. Ample parking.

We had lunch with friends after arriving from Denver. We did not stay overnight. Kimberley was our waitress/hostess and she was awesome. Food was very good with the Armadillo Chicken wraps being my personal favorite. Really neat place. Be sure to stop in.

We’ve tried really hard to support this restaurant because it’s close to my parents’ home, and we always try to be patient and understanding — even when service takes a long time. We know restaurants can get busy, especially on holidays.
Unfortunately, this Valentine’s Day was extremely disappointing. My parents made a reservation well in advance for a 5:45 PM dinner. When they arrived on time, they were told there would still be a 30-minute wait despite having a reservation. To make matters worse, they were completely out of steaks — on Valentine’s Day.
After planning ahead and looking forward to a special evening, they ended up leaving with nowhere else to go since most places were fully booked. It was really disheartening.
We truly want to support local businesses, but reservations should mean something — especially on special occasions.

Just went in today, noticed they had an event going on so didn’t mind waiting even though only 1 other party was in the entire restaurant. My boyfriend, his daughter and our not even 2 year old son got the worst service imaginable. Attitude, dirty looks and wasn’t even offered a booster seat. We sat and waited 10 minutes for 2 lemonades and and 2 teas then saw our selves out. I understand having a bad day, but that was completely unacceptable especially to treat 2 kids under 10 like that. Really disappointed wanted to try this place for years. Won’t be going back.

The Russell House Restaurant and Inn is truly exceptional. The dining experience is outstanding, with beautifully prepared food, a warm atmosphere, and attentive, professional service. Every detail feels thoughtfully curated.
The lodging is just as impressive—comfortable, charming, and impeccably maintained, making for a relaxing and memorable stay. Whether you’re there for a meal, an overnight visit, or both, the Russell House offers quality, hospitality, and care at the highest level. Highly recommended.

Honestly, if we’d had read the reviews, we probably wouldn’t have stopped… However we had friends who spoke very well about this place. My wife wanted the stuffed chicken, the waitress said it wasn’t available due to staffing issues, so she ordered a cheeseburger and fries. I had the top sirloin with lobster toppings, and fried potatoes. My wife said the burger was good, however not worth the price… My stake was cooked correctly and the tendon or grizzle in the middle was tolerable. The fried potatoes were… Not very good, and not what I was expecting. All in all, by far, not the worst place I’ve eaten, however… It was okay. The exterior could use some landscaping, and the interior could really use an update! Overall… It wouldn’t take much to make this place and really nice high quality dining room.
