Today we visited Mama Mia Pie and Pasta as a family with our children. When we entered, there was a sign stating “please seat yourself,” so we chose an available table. From the moment the blonde server assigned to our table approached us, the experience became uncomfortable. There was no greeting, no smile, and no effort to make us feel welcome.
Simple and reasonable questions about the menu were met with a cold and impatient tone. When ordering for our children, even clarifying a salad dressing option was handled with visible irritation rather than professionalism or helpful guidance.
We also politely explained that we do not eat meat and asked if our Margherita pizza could be cut with a clean knife or with extra care to avoid cross-contamination. This is a very common and respectful request, yet it was dismissed without any attempt to assist or even communicate with the kitchen.
During the meal, unfinished plates were removed in a rushed and uncomfortable manner, and we were encouraged to take the remaining pizza in a very small box, which only reinforced the feeling that we were not wanted there. As a family dining with children, this treatment was especially upsetting.
Especially in a tourist area during the winter season, where tolerance, kindness, and hospitality should be held to the highest standard, we were deeply disappointed to experience this level of service. We chose to eat at your establishment, paid for our meal, and expected basic respect in return.
As a Local Guide, I would have liked to comment on the food and support a local business. Unfortunately, the service experience was so poor that it completely overshadowed everything else. We left feeling sad and confused, questioning whether this treatment was related to our appearance or some other unspoken reason.
A business that does not value hospitality should either not be open or should ensure that its staff consists of people who are happy, respectful, and take pride in their work. Smiling and treating guests with basic courtesy costs nothing, yet it defines the entire dining experience.
We sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and that future guests are treated with the warmth, respect, and professionalism they deserve.
When we arrived, the restaurant felt like a ghost town. We actually had to search for an employee just to get seated, which should have been the first red flag. Although the window view was nice, it was quickly overshadowed by the disgusting condition of the restaurant—spider webs everywhere, dead flies, and spiders crawling around near the windows.
We ordered three large pizzas, a chicken Alfredo dinner, and another pasta dish. The server said the order would be placed and coming right out. Nearly an hour later, the pasta dishes finally arrived. They were absolutely disgusting, and to make matters worse, the food later gave my wife food poisoning. Still, no pizza had arrived.
After waiting another 30–40 minutes, we had to track down our server to ask what was going on. She told us the pizzas were “coming out now.” Only one pizza was brought out, and it was nothing but raw dough with toppings slapped on it—barely cooked and completely inedible. When we asked where the other pizzas were, we were finally told—after almost two hours of waiting—that they forgot to make them. That was literally the main part of our order.
The server then admitted the pizza was undercooked and it felt like they were trying to pass it off so we wouldn’t notice they forgot the rest. Meanwhile, other customers were standing at the front desk waiting for online orders that clearly hadn’t even been started.
At that point, we told the server this was completely unacceptable and left. Between the filthy environment, terrible service, forgotten food, undercooked pizza, and food poisoning, I genuinely don’t understand how this place is still open.
I do not recommend this place at all — 0 out of 10. Save yourself the disappointment and go up the road to the BBQ place (it’s very close and much better), or the pizza place in town instead. Both are a solid 10 out of 10 compared to this.
Do better, Mama Mia.
Our server was a little abrupt but accommodating with my dietary need. She seemed in a rush to leave the table every time she came by, which was odd because there were only two other tables occupied and they were being served by other people.
4 stars were for the prices because they seemed a bit high. $60 for just a couple of pizzas and a slice of cake. Also, it took 45 mins or so for the pizzas to come out.
It was nice and convenient to our cabin though.
Seated 45 minutes before food, but it was worth the wait. Fresh preparation and very tasty. Everything clean and nice, with a great view.
