My child was sitting in our Tesla, enjoying his meal while playing a game. The store doesn’t offer any place where kids can eat and play comfortably, so we chose to let him eat in the car. After he finished his Coke, we simply walked back into the restaurant to get a refill — something that’s always been allowed as long as you’re a paying customer.
The place was completely empty, not a single customer in sight. Yet, the staff member immediately stopped us and accused us of trying to get a free drink without paying. Seriously? I calmly explained, gave him our order number and time, and even pointed out that we had just been there a few minutes ago.
But instead of showing any basic courtesy or common sense, he gave us a dirty look and said, “You already left the store, so no refill.”
I was shocked. I came back in with my own cup, after just buying food and drinks, and was treated like some low-life trying to scam a free Coke. I drive a Tesla, for God’s sake — and this guy is acting like I snuck in from the parking lot to steal soda? Unbelievable.
It’s not about the Coke — it’s about being treated with zero respect, like I was beneath them. The arrogance and attitude of the staff were disgusting. Enforcing a policy is one thing, but treating a paying customer like a thief? That crosses the line.
This is what happens when people are given a little bit of power and no training in customer service. If this is how this location treats its customers, especially families with kids, then they can keep their Coke. We won’t be coming back. Ever.
When I asked her why she was preventing me from ordering, she could not give a reasonable explanation and accuse me for nothing. I then asked her apologize and her name, but she refused or tell me, and the other staff members also would not provide it when I asked them. It felt like everyone was afraid to speak up, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
I reported this incident to McDonald’s Headquarter Customer Service, but I have not heard anything back. The whole incident made me feel disrespected and unfairly treated as a customer.
A manager should set an example of professionalism and respect, not make customers feel unwelcome. I truly hope this store takes this seriously and improves staff training so that customers can be treated with basic respect in the future.
Now, my family and friends in the neighborhood refused to go to this store due to poor customer service and disrespectful attitude.
