An absolute TREASURE that my friends and I stumbled upon by accident by seeing their “come in, we’re awesome” sign. Guess what? They were awesome!

Our group had a mix of diets, including some vegan folks, and this place married all of our interests and truly was the kind of menu that had something for everyone! The staff were so kind, the sort of people who make the space feel like a home away from home.

I especially loved that they had some Lord of The Ring themed pastries to match their movie night later tonight.

Adorable, local place that we are so excited to make a tradition.

The service was very friendly and charming. Legos and games inside kept the kids entertained. They were very kind and let us take the games outside.

The food was the worst I’ve had in a long time. Everything fried to a crisp yet somehow undercooked. I have that creeping feeling I’m going to get sick from this meal.

The ambiance felt like the place had just been ravaged by a hurricane. That is to say, negative ambiance. Poorly spray painted fence and mostly rough rocks with some grass poking up. Sandbox was 1/3 full and looked like it had been through some stuff. Empty pallets, ladders, and weeds lining the fence.

Ending on a positive note: the mocktail was a fun touch. Small portion for the price, but I’m stealing the idea of using a cupcake liner to cover the top of a glass, brilliant. Taste was nice.

Deep fried saltiness. That what the pasties are…..very lite flavor other than salt and grease. Exceptionally overpriced food for the low quality of the product. The people are extremely friendly but the food is bad. Salads looked good so maybe all the five star reviews just had salads. The ice tea was good too. But the grease…..and the salt……

We’re visiting from PA. Looked up food near me and this restaurant popped up with pics of their food. It all looked delicious and unique! And IT WAS! We got the chicken and chips, burger pasties, taco salad, and a hot dogs! All of it came with the most delicious fried potatoes we’ve ever had! Chicken was beer battered and juicy! Taco salad came with all the right toppings! Hot dog was huge!! My burger pasties were amazing!! Highly highly recommend!! Wish we would have been there during the regular season! The atmosphere would have been ever better. All around fantastic place!

Coming from Chicago and we were very impressed by the food! Had the tomato soup with chipotle bean burger, would highly recommend! Lots of games and a patio for kids to stay entertained also.

So they are renovating their place and have set up a “food truck” so they can keep serving which is very cool. It’s especially cool because they were 1 of only 2 places open in town.

The portions are HUGE, I was expecting normal food truck portions and ended up over ordering.

Added pictures of the poutine and the fish fillet sandwich, look at the size of that fillet, it is an inch thick and at least 3″x3″ !!! Their sauce for it is a homemade sauce and perfection.

Give them your money and patience, it’s well worth it.

Went back the following day because 1. Food is great 2. Options for a place to eat are very limited on a Tuesday, as in they are the only place open after 5:00.

Anyhow, turns out the applesauce is the recipe of one of the lady’s grandmother and they make it, as well as almost everything else 5hwt be, from scratch. It was incredible, wish I would have gotten 2.

I never thought about putting strawberries in my broccoli salad, but they did and it totally works in place of the raisins. Only down side was that they were a bit mushy, which felt odd compared to everything else being so firm.

Anyhow if you made it this far, give them a try. The food really is very good, even with it being a bit of a wait.

We were absolutely blown away by our experience at Around the Corner! If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with true local flair, this is the place. Don’t hesitate. There is something on the menu for everyone, and every bite excites and delights the tastebuds.

I’m rarely impressed enough by a restaurant to write a review, but this one was so exceptional I couldn’t resist. My husband and I were amazed by both the creativity and the quality of the dishes. Their fry creations are a must-try(definitely get the broccoli flowers!!!) The fry batter is crispy, and light, yet not overly greasy or thick like most fried dishes are, and the seasoning is unique and unforgettable.

The sauces are clever spins on familiar favorites. I especially loved the mustard-dill tartar sauce that came with the fish fry. It sets them apart from the dozens of restaurants in the Traverse area serving standard fish and chips. The chef has spent nearly a decade perfecting her fry batter, and you can taste it in every bite. The crunch alone is unforgettable!

But that isn’t all!!! The salads are fresh and lively and given the attention as show pieces, rather than as afterthoughts, as they so often are in restaurants.

Be prepared though, their portions are very large, so you may need to bring a friend to help you finish it all.

We came to Northport for a day away to celebrate our anniversary, and our lunch was so impressive that we returned for dinner the same day. They even host outdoor Saturday movie nights from June through October, which we can’t wait to experience with our son on our next visit.

The sign outside reads, “Come in, we’re awesome.” That’s actually an understatement. This family-run restaurant truly is awesome, and the family behind it is absolutely lovely. We will be back soon! Next time I will take photos of our food….I’m sorry but I couldn’t stop myself to get my phone out before our food was gone!!!

Not worth the wait (1 hour)
The Burger Mac Pastie did taste OK. Also, my husband, got the Sloppy Joe Pastie, tasted OK also. We each got a pastie order thinking it would be only 1 pastie but 3 came with the order. Each order comes with potatoes. Everyone’s potatoes were too well done.
We ordered the Pig Taters. Again the potatoes too done. Cheese sauce tasted jarred. But pulled pork tasted OK.
We were with other people who ordered Vegan burger. $16 but you get a warmed up frozen vegan burger patty. He returned his order and received a refund.
Overall we would not recommend this food truck.

Hands down some of the best service and food truck food I’ve ever had. The only place open for food and they knocked it out of the park! You’re doing yourself a disfavor if you don’t go at least once. Nearly everything is homemade, and it shows.

We went to see a community play at the Willowbrook Mill in Northport last night and the canapés were catered by Around the Corner Food & Fun. It was fun performance and the food was outstanding. I would recommend them highly for any catering needs.
