We were eventually seated at a clean table on the patio. The ambiance was decent—the breeze made it comfortable, and we were able to watch the basketball game, which was nice. Overall, the atmosphere was alright.
As for the food and service, this is where things really fell short. We ordered drinks and were informed the kitchen was backed up, but it still took about an hour and a half to receive our food. When it finally arrived, my aunt was given the wrong chicken dish. She didn’t make a big deal about it since we were all very hungry, but shortly after she had already taken a bite, a staff member returned and asked her to put the chicken back on the plate so they could bring the correct order. That raised a serious sanitation concern.
Throughout the visit, there seemed to be a lack of communication and accountability from the staff. Maybe Sundays are just more hectic, but the overall experience felt disorganized and overwhelming.
I don’t want to be completely negative because the patio ambiance was pleasant, but I’d suggest possibly visiting during the week when things may be more prepared and organized. Unfortunately, this Sunday experience was a bit too much for us.
I also want to add Keith was a phenomenal server thank you so much!
The service was just okay. We didn’t get napkins or cutlery until a few minutes after our food arrived, and the waitress only checked on us once for a refill.
Be warned, Friday nights are packed, with people waiting in overflow rooms, outside, and even in their cars. On the plus side, you’ll enjoy soft R&B in the background .. think Babyface and Tevin Campbell.
Let’s start with the fact that I am a frequent visitor to their downtown location. I am a Houston local and I am a fan of their happy hour! I typically order their lemon drops and sidecar. Amazingggg!
And for food I do order the only vegan option which is cauliflower and waffles.
So, that’s what I decided to opt for while visiting the sugar land location; lemon drops and cauliflower and waffles.
My bartender was Dai! She is so sweet! She has excellent customer service and beautiful energy! I also met the bar manager (believe his name is Brandon). Every person I interacted with (excluding when exiting the building) had amazing customer service! That is something that will keep me coming back!
The vibes here are almost the complete opposite of their downtown location. It’s more upscale, music is nowhere near as loud, and they have outdoor seating with a beautiful lake view.
Different, but it’s still appreciated.
My food? Baby! Almost fully taste the same as the other location. My cauliflower tasted a little different, however, I still enjoyed it .
My waffles? Magnificent! They were certainly consistent with those. Damn, I can just taste them. Lol. Please note that I did add some toppings to my waffles-sweet potato and peach cobbler.
My drink? They were not nasty, but it did not taste like the other location. Actually, I enjoyed it. Later found out that they use a different well vodka than the downtown location.
Why was I going back and forth? Well I had to send my waffles back because they were cold. My drinks did not the taste the same as downtown location (I’m huge on consistency when dining out). But what I probably disliked the most was when I left the restaurant. There were a group of girls at the host stand, three of them. They were so caught up on their conversation no one thanked me when leaving or said goodbye. And, that is huge for me!
However, it was only their second night open I’m sure those kinks will be worked out.
Please, if you’re considering going, go!! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. anytime I bring someone visiting from back home to Taste they love it. I’m sure you will too.
