No one does a diner like NJ and the Salem Oak Diner is the epitome of a treasure we are losing everyday. We drove past and did a turn around.
Decent, hearty food, served by welcoming and accommodating staff. Clean as a whistle!
A burger that was bigger than the large bun it came on, and a tuna BLT that had barely any filler and at least a quarter pound of bacon.
The cream of potato soup was stick to your ribs but needed a little spice and a B&W milkshake.
Nice local crowd for a Wednesday, good looking specials on the menu too.
On the road and at the Diner!

Delicious food. Big portions and reasonable prices. My mom and I came from almost an hour away in Washington Twp. It took a little while to get waited on, but it was Sunday. Totally worth it. We’ll be back!

This place is a hidden gem! It’s not fancy or upscale, but it has that classic old-school American diner vibe that’s hard to find these days. The food was great, and the service was even better. I had the French onion soup, which was delicious, and the chicken tenders—highly recommend! And best of all, the prices can’t be beat.

This is a classic diner experience. It is careworn but clean, and service is great. Eggs over medium were done perfectly. Cheese omelette also done nicely, but cheese was only in the middle, so a lot of bites with no cheese. Potatoes were crispy but surprisingly dry. Pork roll portion was generous (3 slices) but overdone and therefore dry. So overall good but not great experience.

A rare example of the all American diner – airstream build diner with functional.wheelbase, friendly patrons who have been visiting since the diner opened in 1954 (!!), kind wait staff who give you extra servings of pickled beets, and great sugar cured ham steaks, and bread pudding. Too bad that the table top juke boxes no longer work !

I absolutely love this Diner. The food is great. The staff are very friendly. They make you feel like family. Other customers will often strike up a conversation with me and I leave happier than I wad when I walked in. Love, Love, Love the Salem Oak Diner.

Saw some other reviews saying this place is outdated but I personally love it! I love how charming this diner is and if it changed I’d be upset. Service was amazing, the waitress was so lovely and helpful. The pancakes I ordered were probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had and the sausages were delicious! The pancakes were lovely and fluffy and not to mention everything was very cheap. Definitely recommend coming here.

Been by the Salem Oak Diner many times, but never stopped by. I finally decided to pull over and give the place a try. A diner straight out of the past, it was cozy, had the traditional long counter and a few booths with jukeboxes at each table! I was there for lunch and ordered a salad and a grilled cheese w/bacon sandwich. One of the best I’ve ever had!! I’m so glad I stopped into the Salem Oak Diner! I will absolutely be back!!

I live 350 miles north of the Diner but my wife and I had some business in the area. We were an hour early so I thought, lets take a drive through Salem. Went by my Grandparents old house on Oak Street onto Broadway and decided to have breakfast. I think the last time I ate here was in the late 60’s with my Grandfather. I remember he had to help me get up onto the stool at the counter. It’s just like I remembered it. While waiting for our food I pointed out to my wife where the Salem Oak used to be and that it was where William Penn signed the treaty with the Indians. The food came and it was very good, especially the bacon. I eat diner food 5 mornings a week and the bacon was exceptional compared to what I’m used to. If I ever get back to the Delaware Valley, I’ll stop in again.
