The good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good: the restaurant had a beautiful ambient environment. It was peaceful and a wonderful place to wind down after ice fishing while eating dinner. It was clean, uncluttered, and just overall a great environment. Most of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, a couple were a little green but otherwise zero complaints there.
The bad: Service was inconsistent. We came in on an all inclusive Ice Fishing Package that included two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners. I didn’t get to use the breakfast on the first day because they weren’t open at 6AM and put fishing party left at 6:15ish. Since I came in via train, I was heavily reliant on the restaurant for my meals. Not being able to count on the consistency of service was a concern but Woodland Resort was absolutely amazing help and allowed me to trade in my four breakfast vouchers for one dinner voucher and we ordered a pizza to go and put it in the room refrigerator so we could at least have pizza for breakfast the next day.
The ugly: The food. Some of it was absolutely amazing, some of it was standard fare, and unfortunately for the first time in years I actually had to send an item back to the kitchen. I hate doing that so much, but the item we ordered the first night—off the kids menu—was absolutely inedible due to the salt amount: I’ve had caviar that was less salty. This part also ties into service where the second night we were there for dinner we got the 12oz Steak Dinner, which was supposed to come with soup or salad, seasonal veggies and a potato item. Except no soups were available and they were all out of salad makings. At the prices of the food, you do have a certain amount of expectation of the food and I feel like that fell flat, hard.

Our first time visiting from out of town was recommended by a lady who lives in the area. We were not disappointed food was amazing. Whatever they put on the fresh made chips needs to be bottled and sold. Right by the lake we really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious. They have the best wings I’ve ever eaten, pizza is to die for.. the beer is also very cold which I appreciate. It’s just nice knowing that Woodland Resort has availability to this restaurant and bar. So that being said myself and others that I bring to Devils Lake to fish and stay at the Woodland Resort it’s just nice knowing that we have a nice restaurant to eat at and have a few cocktails.
Best staff in the world. Would definitely recommend eating and having a few cocktails at Proz Lakeside restaurant. Just very happy.

Atmosphere was great as usual. It really is a great place to eat. The food is always very good. The staff was very pleasant and friendly, especially since we had a large group. The service was a bit slow even though it wasn’t overly busy. I understand we had a large group but even with smaller groups it seems to be slow.

We got lucky to have a sunny day! This Devil’s Lake ND restaurant is part of a resort, which means the attached beach is also very nice! There are fire pits to lounge and watch the water… An overall lovely place to have lunch.

Went for dinner on the patio. Was decent, had lake view. Food was good but lacking. The walleye had way to much seasonings and a bit over cooked. In all not horrible. But one thing to point out. Watch your server because ours decided to put a 20% tip for himself before we even seen the check.

Nice views and atmosphere. Don’t get the buffalo burger – it’s mislabeled, should be labeled buffalo STYLE. one time they had no baked potatoes at 6pm. We were told the staff forgot to make them. Tried again and ordered the steak Oscar special. It was pretty nice. They tend to over salt so ask them to back off- decent prices. Nice service- great service at bar. I will still be back. One of the top choices in Devils Lake.
