Parking is ample and you’re likely to be seated quickly. Reservations help for large parties.
The service was spectacular and my reccomendation from the waiter was great. It was the best Turtle Soup Ive had in the city and the Veal was tender and the Seafood/Spinach dip was great. They have a good wine and cocktail selection and a piano bar.
They dont split checks,but they can charge multiple cards for one large party,just ask.
The outdoor seating might be more pleasant in the cooler times of year.

Upon arrival, it was disorganized. There was no host stand, and guests were lining up with no direction. A host came over and asked if I had signed in. I was confused because I hadn’t been told to sign in; apparently, you have to call to make a reservation and I did that days ago. I told him my name, and he seated us. After that, our server rushed us, hurrying with drinks and taking our order. It was annoying to have him check in every couple of minutes, making it hard to have a conversation. When he asked how the food was, my date mentioned the fried green tomatoes and crawfish dill sauce could’ve been better with more sauce. The server’s response was that we should’ve told him to bring more, but we had mentioned it when he asked. The presentation was also off, with the fish on top of my sides looking unappealing. Also, the restaurant was extremely dark but I did enjoy the photos of Ray Charles and BB King.. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially since I had chosen the place for our date.

This place is a hidden gem in Metairie. We go at least once a month now and have excellent service every time. Melinda at the bar is awesome – great conversationalist and makes a fantastic cocktail! We’re normally “bar people” but we sat a table recently and Rocco waited on us. His timing was perfection. Ask for him when you go.
Also get the lobster appetizer- it’s phenomenal. Breaded and flash friend with remoulade sauce. Yum.

As soon as we walked through the door we were pleased with the beauty and ambiance of Austin’s. We had a reservation at 5 and were seated right away. The chocolate martini was among the best that I’ve had. I had the seafood grilled plate which was very good with a substantial portion of food. My fork went through the scallops like going through soft butter. My boyfriend’s crab salad was filled with chunks of crab. There was no skimping with the amount of crab. Chris was our server and was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He was very attentive. This was our first time to eat at Austin’s and we are already talking about going back. This restaurant is on point in every way. Keep doing what you’re doing Mr. Ed. because it works.

I have been to Austin’s twice now and each time was an excellent experience. The second time was for Valentine’s Day, which was obviously busy. Regardless, the service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Now, the food……AWESOME!!! I got the fillet and stuffed lobster and my wife got the Barbecue Twin Fillet. Both were great. The crab cakes appetizer was the best I’ve ever had. I only wish the portion was bigger. And finally, the White and Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake was so good we should have gotten two!

We again returned to Austin’s Saturday night to celebrate our son’s birthday. We were promptly seated, and water was instantly on the table, along with a wine list, specialty drink list, and the food menu with a “specials” insert. Steve H was our server, and was totally exceptional, without any pretense. My wife ordered a bottle of a Sonoma Chardonnay for the table, served perfectly chilled.
For appetizers, I ordered the truffle salad, ice cold with shrimp and plenty of crabmeat. My wife got the shrimp remoulade.
Our main courses were Seafood Stuffed Redfish, Pasta Orleans, and for me on a relatively strict diet, Louisiana red fish, minus the brabant potatoes, and no salt on the veggies. Steven understood the order, and the kitchen got it better than right. All three presentations were lovely, and the temperature was perfect.
Only my son got dessert, a spectacular blueberry cheesecake.
My only suggestion to diners would be on weekends, ask for a table away from the piano. While the gentleman playing and singing is very good, if you are right next to him, conversation can be difficult.
My recommendation for Austin’s remains very strong.
