This is a great little hotdog stand at 51st and Oak Street across the street from UMKC. A friend of mine who works at the university invited me to meet him here for dinner before a show.

The staff here is really cool and knowledgeable. Very helpful. I enjoyed the hotdog very much. I tried the Chicago dog, which was pretty good. It did not have the neon relish, but I don’t miss the food coloring. The mountaineer was my favorite. It had chili cheese, slaw, jalapeños, and mustard. I would get that one again for sure.

Ding Dong Dogs is a real treat. Come support this great local hotdog stand. They have two foosball tables and a ping-pong table inside for the kids plus some games. I’m told it’s packed at lunch with college people. Dinner at 5:15 was not too crowded.

Not quite there guys. DDD’s current version of a Chicago dog is topped with pepperoncini instead of sport peppers, has non sweet relish, and is served on a cool/stiff bun. Hard to tell if it was pure beef as I was still stuck on the cool brittle bread.

They offer the dog as fried, grilled, or boiled. The fact that they don’t offer it as steamed also explains the bun issue as I’d guess they simply don’t have a steam table. Meat should never be boiled.

The fact it only cost 7$, didn’t have ketchup, the presence of cheap beer, and what was a pretty tasty Kielbasa under all those onions gets them to 3 stars.

Love the idea of the place and that ownership cares enough to respond to reviews. Will give it a second shot down the road.

First time here, tried the chili cheese dog and tots. Tots were good and crispy, how I ordered them. I wasn’t wowed by the hot dog. For $10 and being that’s all they do is hot dogs, I was expecting better. And would have much rather had my jalapeño sliced and without the seeds. Cool little spot and they have potential, but missed the mark for me.

Great spot for some Chicago food and nostalgia. The Chicago dog is really good, the ingredients were fresh and high quality, and the staff is super friendly. We really enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the root beer float. The atmosphere is super laid-back and welcoming, we will definitely be back!

Cool little shop that just opened. Their specialty is hot dogs and root beer floats. Very friendly staff and a chill environment you can play ping pong or foosball in. The sides were also very crispy and delicious. Worth trying!
