Reason for visiting: parent’s anniversary dinner (my parents like old school Chinese restaurants and food)
Date/time of visit: Saturday night, ~7:00 PM
Parking: shared in the adjacent lot with other businesses; at 7:00 PM, there’s plenty of parking unless there’s a wedding. Free parking, no valet
Party size: 20; 2 tables with 8 non-adults
Environment/ambience: was not busy when we came by. Probably do not need reservations for small dinner party, less than ~8. We had large party, along with requesting wedding menu (7 course dinner). Think old school Chinese restaurant; fish tank(s) and no TVs
Service: was great actually; they came around often and were really helpful. Better than most other Chinese places.
Food: was really good; we ordered the menu usually reserved for weddings since my parents love that type of Chinese food. We initially tried to replace the the roasted chicken with roasted pork but they didn’t get that so we just had the chicken; we ordered the $508 menu (pic below). You can do BYOB too; no corking fee and they’ll help you open and provide cups, no extra charge
Cost: $1400, with tip
Would I go back (yes/no): 75/25

I was invited for the Lunar New Year. They had reserved an area with 2 tables. The food and service were great.

Had our Malaysian Club Chinese New Year dinner here and really enjoyed the experience — especially with the festive lion dance performance that brought great energy! The dim sum and dishes were flavorful and fresh, and the service was attentive even with the busy crowd.

Only downside is that the restrooms could definitely be cleaner and better maintained.

Overall, a great spot for traditional Chinese dining and celebrations — lively atmosphere, good food, just needs improvement in cleanliness.

1st time at this dim sum restaurant. Very impressed, good tasty food, dim sim, large chicken feet, good pricing.
Love to go back again.

From the outside this looks like a hole in the wall place in a strip mall but inside it’s huge and magical! We had a party of 200 people in there and there was still areas for other pattons.
Aside from most of the staff not speaking English to tell us what we were eating when it was brought out we figured it out and everything was uniquely different in its own way!
I usually take food pics but I didn’t this time! P.S beer was only 5 bucks a bottle!

Capital Seafood is one of my favorite Dim Sum restaurants in LA. They offer all the traditional Dim Sum dishes, and everything is incredibly fresh, served from old-school push carts. The service is top-notch. Whether you’re a Dim Sum lover or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit! Highly recommended. Don’t forget to try the delicious desserts.

Absolutely love Capital Seafood in Monterey Park! This gem has quickly become my go-to spot for authentic dim sum. Their house specials are simply outstanding, with a delightful variety that keeps me coming back for more. The dim sum selection, including shrimp dumplings, pork buns, and crispy spring rolls, is always freshly made and bursting with flavor.

One of the best things about Capital Seafood is their generous portions at such affordable prices. You truly get amazing value without sacrificing taste. The friendly service adds to the experience, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.

The ambiance is inviting and visually appealing, setting the perfect backdrop for a delicious meal. And if you’re in the mood for something different, their fried rice and seafood chow mein are also fantastic options.

If you’re in California and craving authentic dim sum, you have to check out Capital Seafood. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Great dim sum for a great price as well! Definitely worth checking out! The tea was great too. We got seated immediately and the food carts came around so fast and so often. We weren’t waiting too long for anything.

I always love a good cart dim sum restaurant and this place is one of the remaining few that still have them.

Not quite Dim Sum, but our group ordered the Roasted Suckling Pig. It was tasty, although I wished the skin would be crispier. They have all the classic Dim Sum here and it was good, but nothing stood out.

Staff were quick and a lot nicer than the other places. Prices were a bit inflated. I would recommend to maybe go earlier since they only serve Dim Sum until 3p.

I’ve been eating at Capital Seafood (especially this Monterey Park location) since I was a child. I’ve brought family friends here, high school friends here, college friends, even a professional friend or two. It’s only natural that after over two decades of our business that my partner and I had our wedding dinner reception here.

The food does not disappoint, all of our guests were complimenting us on every course. Did you know that the first course even comes with a grand entrance with dry ice and a parade from the waitstaff? Beyond the food, the waitstaff was great.

There was a slight mix-up (from me) about the presence of a sweetheart table and a table for vendor meals – Capital Seafood was able to accommodate that almost immediately and helped feed us on the most important night of my life.

Thanks!
