A great place to grab crabs to go. They offer an outdoor seating area with benches. I ordered a dozen medium crabs, cream of crab soup – small, 1-lb steamed shrimp (small), fries and 1 ear of corn. It was a to-go order. The crabs were a good size with plenty of meat but lacked seasoning (see photo). They could’ve used more old bay or JO. The soup was very thick, more of a crab dip consistency than soup, but it tasted great! The old bay sprinkled on top was a bit heavy handed, which made it salty. I didn’t mind it, but would’ve preferred the old bay on the side for me to sprinkle my own amount as I see fit. The fries were good but were cold by the time I got home. They had a crunchy-like coating so I’m not sure if they’re gluten free. I personally wouldn’t order fries to-go the next time. The corn in their fridge display case looked like it had seen better days. The staff allowed me to pick my own and it had no flavor whatsoever (maybe not the season). The shrimp was cooked perfectly and they were very tasty as well.
Overall, crabs are good for a quick crab fix and I’d skip all the “extras,” not worth the money. But then again maybe I’d do the soup again. It was especially good the next day. I added water to it to thin it out when I reheated on the cooktop.

The food is amazing! We looked at the menu online and ordered over the phone. We got a fried oyster platter with a side of mac and cheese, a brisket sandwich, a stuffed shrimp sandwich, and cream of crab.
Everything was absolutely excellent! Sea King’s mac and cheese is quite possibly the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend it if you visit.
The cream of crab was also a highlight.

I drove here from DC and will always come here for their crabs.
Ordered online and was impressed with the customer service and quality of crabs. Positives: 1) You can order crabs based on size/ sex/ origin. So if you only want small/female crabs from Chesapeake, they can do that. 2) customer service was excellent. I ordered the wrong platter online and called the phone number. The lady tricked tracked down my order, made the changes, and had the new order ready for pickup. 3) great specials at the restaurant too

Worst all-around experience, wish we could give a negative rating. This was our second time trying out Sea King Seafood Market and we should have learned our lesson the first time. We first went to Sea King last year when we moved to Ellicott City, called in a dozen of steamed crabs and a pound of shrimp over phone. When we arrived to pick at the discussed time they said we were late and they didn’t have the order ready. Being new to the neighborhood, we waited for the order. Food was nothing to write home about. Fast forward to today, we decide to give it another go. Employee was not knowledgeable and had to call over, I guess the manager, to answer simple questions. We asked about the extra large crabs, at $93 a dozen, and were told that they sell a mix of extra large and large and the supplier sorts the sizes so there is no guarantee what size we will get. Asked for 8 extra large crabs and were told they only sell by the half or whole dozen. So instead of the manager making the money for 8 crabs we only bought a half dozen, guess there was an issue doing the math. We got the crabs home and 3 of the 6 were either undone or dead, take a look at the meat in the images. Ordered shrimp and they were bland just like the 3 good crabs since apparently they make their own seasoning. Also ordered the cream of crab soup and every single bite had a shell in it. We have learned our lesson and will never go back there. I hope you find this review useful and if you do decide to go please post a review as well. Hopefully enough reviews will assist this company with correcting their shortcomings.

Another Friday night, what do I fancy to eat ?
Drove by umpteen times, curiosity got the best of me, popped in Sea king Ellicott City.
I liked the quaint, seashore decor, huge menu selection, settled with more comfort food, a rainy day.
5 wings or 10, if I chose 5 wings I would have been disappointed. 10 wings were deliciously satisfying, stick to your ribs, appetizing mac and cheese, barbecue beans.
great choice will return to experience more of menu

Someone mentioned ” crabs. ” Called around, ” nope ” ” all out of them ” ” you need to make a reservation, but we are booked.”
Now I am hunting for crabs. Called Sea King, yes we have crabs, bought large crabs online, 35mins.
Ready, 1/2 dozen large male crabs were savoy and delicious.
For an additional $2.50 for paper, knife, mallet and a bucket eating outside on a beautiful sunny day, I definitely enjoyed myself on their new outdoor seating.

Excellent seafood at very good prices. I had the Crab Imperial Platter (the best value as it comes with two sides for only about three dollars more): the Crab Imperial is delicious, made from around six ounces of Jumbo Lump crab meat and flavorful imperial sauce – no fillers! For my two sides I selected the Ocean Fries, hot and crispy, though a bit underdone for my taste, and what is truly the best Cole slaw in the area – both sides were quite sizable. The “restaurant” offers four tables, and you are dining surrounded by the Seafood Market, which is not a bad thing, as there are worse things than being surrounded by some of the best seafood in the area while eating some of the best seafood in the area. My guess is that this place does a great carry-out business. However, when I dined in for my late lunch (2pm-ish), there was a table of eight enjoying dozens of steamed crabs, and there was plenty of room for their meal. Dine here (or take home) and be happy.

I have been an on and off customer for over 20 years. I am a fan of Cream of Crab soup. I recently went in and ordered 4 pints of the Cream of Crab soup.. The people I served it to, including myself, could not get by the overwhelming taste of lemon. It was absolutely awful.
I cannot in my good conscience come back for the amount that I paid.

It was OKAY. The best thing was the service. Their crabs don’t appear nor taste to be seasoned with a classic Obay mix. It just tastes like salt and pepper. They also have no flavor once they are reheated.
My biggest complaint is the atmosphere.
In the takeout area the tables were dirty… all of them. This is literally the first thing a customer sees when they come in and it’s dirty. This ⁶makes me think the back and kitchen are even worse.
Then the bathrooms…not untidy, not dirty, but FILTHY. I’m not even sure how a restaurant is allowed to have such dirty bathrooms. I’ve gone to bathroom in alleys that were cleaner.
Overall this let’s me know that they are lazy and just probably don’t care.
