Amazing healthy choice! We got two beef shawarmas with garlic fries and man, this is really healthy and nice choice! It’s tasty and like if my mom cooked for me a homemade food❤️
Garlic fries is another level, because fresh garlic kills bad cholesterol, so I’m really thankful for their idea to add it along with herbs

Absolutely delicious Greek food. We got the Super Gyro, regular gyro, beef shawarma and zucchini fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and we will be back next time we’re on this side of the island and wanting some delicious Greek food for pretty fair prices.

I recently dined at Yamas Mediterranean Cuisine, and it turned out to be a pleasant and satisfying Mediterranean dining experience on the Windward side of Oahu. Located in the Enchanted Lake Shopping Center area of Kailua, the restaurant has a relaxed neighborhood feel that fits well with the surrounding community. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels casual and welcoming, making it an easy place to enjoy a comfortable meal without the formality of fine dining.

The menu focuses on traditional Mediterranean and Greek-inspired dishes, emphasizing fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. One of the strengths of this style of cuisine is the simplicity of preparation, and Yamas does a good job allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to stand out. The grilled meats were well seasoned and cooked properly, with a nice balance between char and tenderness. Dishes like gyros, souvlaki, and other grilled selections deliver the savory and herb-forward flavors that define Mediterranean cooking.

Another highlight of the meal was the freshness of the accompaniments. The vegetables, salads, and sides helped create balance across the plate, providing lighter elements that complement the richness of the grilled proteins. Items like hummus, tzatziki, and other traditional Mediterranean sauces added additional layers of flavor while maintaining a clean and refreshing profile.

Service throughout the visit was friendly and efficient. Staff members maintained a welcoming attitude and helped guide guests through the menu when needed. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable, allowing diners to enjoy the food without feeling rushed.

The overall atmosphere reflects the character of a neighborhood restaurant that locals can return to regularly. It is not trying to be overly elaborate or experimental. Instead, it focuses on delivering dependable Mediterranean comfort food in a relaxed environment that suits both casual lunches and easygoing dinners.

Overall, Yamas Mediterranean Cuisine provides a solid and enjoyable Mediterranean dining experience with fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and welcoming service. For anyone in the Kailua area looking for approachable Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, it is a reliable and worthwhile stop.

We found Yamas on Google Maps after leaving the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base airshow. With so few Mediterranean restaurants on the island, we were excited to try something new on the windward side—especially with a 4.5-star average.

It’s a casual, self-service setup, but unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the rating. The hummus was so thick it could hold up a retaining wall, and both gyros were under-seasoned. The bread also lacked the freshness and flavor we’ve enjoyed at other Mediterranean spots on the island.

A dash more seasoning and a softer hummus, and this place could move from “laying bricks” to “breaking bread.”

My sister brought me here for dinner and I had the Greek Salad it was so delicious I added shrimp to it and it was even better. I wish I ordered the zucchini sticks. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a delicious meal.

We also had a beef gyro but that didn’t make it into the picture the same for the spanokopitas, absolutely delicious and affordable considering how much food cost in the area. Give them your business and you will leave full and with a huge smile.

The food was good, havent had a Gyro done right in a while so it was a nice change. The dining area is a bit bland but the fountain in the center is a nice touch.

Oh this place? It’s really solid – we got 2 pitas (shawarma) and fried fries and we felt like they were home made meals cuz they were not greasy and were v hot, combining garlic w fries was a genius move too. Don’t have pictures because we were busy enjoying the meal

Great greek food and friendly staff. I had the gyro and my wife had the souvlaki. Both were very good with decent portions. The prices seemed fair.
