Huge portions! The kids hamburger looked massive. Food was really good. Anywhere you can get breakfast tacos all day is my favorite place.

We visited that mexican restaurant in September 2024. It seems a family owned restaurant.
The restaurant building is a little bit disappointed us at the beginning. However, restaurant crew, food, big portions – everything were excellent.
Our kids didn’t like their kid’s burgers. Patty and bun were too big.
We would recommend to visit it during your travel.
The only thing – prices are a little bit expensive. We expected cheaper prices as the restaurant located in a small town Nixon in Texas. We got check for $105 + tip.

I got the Barbacoa Torta. It was huge. The Barbacoa was tender, juicy, flavorful, and nicely shredded. Just the way I like it. This is authentic mexican food. Delicious.

A little treasure hidden in Nixon, Texas! Sometimes, surprises come around when you least expect them. This is the case with El Rodeo Mexican restaurant in Nixon, Texas. If you follow my restaurant reviews, you know that I love Mexican food. I love all food (as evidenced by my waistline ), but I especially love Mexican food. The problem is that most Mexican food places in Texas amount to what I call “TV Dinner Restaurants” in that most of what they serve comes straight out of a can, bag, or box.
Such is not the case with El Rodeo. From the moment you see the food come out and take your first bite, you know that this was cooked right there in the restaurant by someone who knew how to make food taste good, Mexican style! Of all of the cuisines on earth Mexican cuisine is about flavor and spice. No, not SALT, as many Texan restaurants think is a spice, but real spice—Camino, Chili, Oregano, Onion, Garlic, Lime, Vinegar etc, etc, etc. The chef at El Rodeo knows how to make food taste good, and you will notice the difference as soon as you taste their food.
I travel through Nixon once or twice a month, and if I am hungry, I know exactly where I am going to eat. I am eating at El Rodeo.

Pork chop and eggs were good. My wife did not like the migas, there was just too much cheese on them.

Best place ever! Everything I’ve tried is amazing. And so fresh and delicious. And you never wait too long for your food, that is fresh and hot by the way, to be served. And the best part for me is that they serve breakfast anytime of the day. Breakfast for dinner is always my favorite, and I finally found a place where I can enjoy a fresh and delicious breakfast for dinner.. thank you for being here.
