I’ve been going to Pho Nguyen for years. This place never fails me. I now live an hour away, and this place beats any Vietnamese spot In Lafayette/West Lafayette! It is worth every minute of the drive.

The atmosphere is nice, and calm, the music isn’t loud, you can actually hear yourself think and hold a conversation with anyone you bring along. The restaurant itself is pretty clean, the womens restroom has always been clean everytime I’ve used it.

Food has always come out pretty quickly, the only thing that can stink is that you don’t really get checked on, so if you’re ready to pay and/or need boxes or something, you have to go up to the counter. The staff is always respectful though!

As for the food, worth every penny! I always get the fried wontons (full) and their pho. I can’t speak on much else. The broth is SO flavorful, I could just drink a bowl of it lol! The garnishes have always been fresh for me, everything always taste delicious and tastes fresh. Their milk tea is delicious!! I prefer taro, but the honeydew is yummy as well.

It’s relatively well priced with how much food you receive. I wish I lived closer, I’d go all the time! 10/10 highly recommend.

Pho Nguyen’s new location can be a little confusing to find since there’s no clear signage outside. Once inside, the restaurant is fairly clean and organized. The food itself is good, with fresh flavors and solid portions that make it worth the trip. Unfortunately, the service feels like the bare minimum. They will bring your food, but don’t expect warmth or attention. It comes across as more of a “just get it done” type of experience.

Efficient: No
First-Time Friendliness: No
Would I Return: Yes

I really wanted to love this place, especially since it’s the only option in Kokomo, Indiana for anyone “desperately seeking” a bowl of Pho. To be fair, the Pho itself was actually decent—the broth had good flavor and the noodles were fine. But everything else about the experience was a disaster.

First, the toppings: Terrible. The plate of bean sprouts, basil, and THE CILANTRO looking green things.. was so outdated it looked like it belonged in a garbage can rather than on my table. The sprouts were brown and the herbs were wilted; I couldn’t bring myself to put a single thing into my soup. For a dish that relies so heavily on fresh garnishes, this was a total failure.

Then came the “surprise” at the end. When I went to pay, I discovered they charge a 3.5% credit card processing fee. Most places charge 1% to 2% if they charge anything at all, so hitting customers with 3.5% feels like they’re trying to profit off the transaction rather than just covering costs. To make matters worse, you don’t find out about this “cute” little detail until you’re standing there with your bill in hand.

It’s a shame because the kitchen has the basics right, but between the rotten produce and the hidden fees….

Remember owner! Being the only game in town isn’t an excuse for poor quality and transparency.

The Pho and Crispy Noodle were healthy servings. The Salad was simple but delicious. It was a quiet dining experience where you can have a light conversation. The employees were knowledgeable about the offerings and Friendly. Highly recommend, especially on those cold Hoosier nights

Today my husband ordered pho to go and added rare beef as a substitute for pork. But I only realized halfway through eating that the rare beef I ordered wasn’t there. My husband went back to the restaurant to ask about it, and the staff claimed they had already put in three portions of rare beef. Since my husband is kind and didn’t want to argue, he ended up paying again to get the rare beef.
It’s really disappointing that the staff wasn’t honest. I’m very disappointed.

I’m only disappointed with the service — the food itself was actually pretty good.

updating the review as it’s our first time at the new location in the old choo choo Magoo’s. we went vegetarian this time. they have a fresh spring roll with tofu that’s not on the menu. bit bland and soft. but the v2 mi xao chay More than made up for it; five star all the way. fresh veg and a light but rich flavor. also tried V5 lemon grass tofu. that was good but nowhere near the other dish. The raw onions were a bit strong for us. probably not very Vita means but we think it would have been better if they had breaded and/or fried the tofu.

very good all around. top quality beef in the rare beef pho. the broth was mild and i prefer a bit more aromatics. but it was good and didn’t need hoison sauce.. the grilled chicken in the S2 mi xia gion added a depth of flavor you don’t get at other vietnamese restaurants. the mi xia needed more sauce to soften all the noodles. the chicken in the chicken pho was dry but the broth was good. looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Kokomo. Great vegetarian options as well! I order the same thing every time I go which is the lemongrass tofu and the spring rolls. The peanut butter sauce is amazing. If you have not tried it I highly suggest you do!

Absolutely magnificent!! I’ve wanted to try Pho Nguyen for years and for whatever reason I never have so my husband and I drcided to finally take the plunge now that they switched buildings and WOW is an understatement. The new building is beautiful, service is quick and friendly, and food came out hot and bursting with flavor. We will absolutely be back

Really good food and large portions! I was very impressed. The pho and fried rice (not pictured) were amazing. The peanut sauce they brought with the spring rolls might be my new favorite thing
