We stopped here last year or the year before and was just thinking about coming back again soon, was daydreaming about these burgers today. Such a cool way to make these burgers and to watch them do it. Homemade ketchup on top you can’t beat. Love the stand and love the downtown area. I’ll be wishing this is open all year round whenever I think about this again. Until next time!

This legendary burger stand is a must of you’re traveling through Prairie Du Chein! We enjoyed the spicy mustard better than the regular mustard but you really cannot go wrong either way. Burgers are $6.50 or so a piece.

This is a great seasonal old fashioned burger stand. 72 and sunny today and the line was almost around the corner At just after noon. No seating, just burgers, with or without fried onions. Topped with your choice, Ketchup, Brown Mustard, yellow mustard, salt and Pepper. We did the burgers with onions, Salt & Pepper, Ketchup, and both mustards. They were delicious and hot. It is definitely a place to try if you are anywhere near Southwestern Wisconsin.

If you are a carnivore and find yourself hungry while in Prarie du Chien, stop by this classic hamburger stand! There are no hard decisions to be made- yes/no onions on your burger, and which condiments would you like. We were lucky and did not have to wait in a line. The burgers were served quickly, they were juicy and hot. We stood in nearby shade to enjoy. My husband went back for a second one…

We really enjoy Pete’s. The burgers are so juicy and fresh. Plus the price is reasonable. Probably the only negative is the fact they’re so popular that there can be lines at times, waiting to get a burger. And if they happen to run out it takes up to 50 minutes for them to have more, at least that’s what happened today. Oh, and they do not have any seating at all. There are some benches on main street if they’re available when you’re there.

This is a unique experience. There is just one flat top grill and due to the way they are made, there cannot be a continuous flow of burgers. They have to be made all at the same time. This means they come out in batches and if your timing is bad you may need to wait 15 minutes for the next batch. I would say the burgers are worth the wait. I tried them plain, with mustard and with ketchup and mustard. My favorite was with just mustard. Overall, it’s worth a stop if you’re in the area. The burgers are good and if you have to wait there’s a good chance you’ll have good conversation to pass the time.

Added to our fun adventure was a stop at this legendary and historic burger shack for lunch. There is nothing complicated about this operation and that’s the best part. Line moved fast and while the burgers are simple, they’re soooo good! We will be back!
