Staying next door at the Wyndham, we went to The Red Gill Bistro for dinner. It was delicious! My husband ordered the brisket dinner with collard greens and cole slaw. I ordered the fried fish dinner with collard greens and Mac and cheese. They were both excellent! The small staff were welcoming and friendly. A unique place. Would definitely recommend.

Disappointed‼️ Although, I had a lovely stay at the Wyndham, I wake up this morning deciding I want to try The Red Gill, from what I saw online the food looks amazing. I ordered the shrimp and Grits. Thats literally what I received Shrimp and Grits. No sauce, no season, just plain shrimp and UNDERCOOKED grits. GRITS FELT LIKE I WAS EATING SAND Maybe this was an honest mistake which I could understand but nonetheless I’m disappointed!

I am writing to formally share a disappointing experience I had at Red Gill Bistro in Jacksonville located at 4660 Salisbury Rd on the night before Valentine’s day.
At 7:17 PM, I placed a to-go order for the Carrot Persuasion Cake using the in-restaurant kiosk. I was aware the restaurant was hosting a private event and expected a reasonable wait. However, after more than 30 minutes with no update, I politely inquired about the status of my order.
The response I received was unexpectedly dismissive. A member of the kitchen staff stated he had 100 people to serve and several orders ahead of mine, speaking in a tone that suggested my inquiry was inappropriate. Rather than offering a timeframe or courtesy explanation, he indicated he would simply refund my order.
When the refund was processed, I was initially given $14.26, despite my receipt reflecting $17.26. Upon calmly presenting the receipt, I was met with a cold and accusatory explanation about portal fees. While the full amount was ultimately returned, the interaction was unnecessarily unpleasant and unprofessional.
I understand that busy nights can create pressure. What should never be compromised, however, is basic courtesy and professionalism. This situation escalated over a simple slice of cake — not because of the wait itself, but because of how the interaction was handled.
I believe strongly that customer service is revealed most clearly during high-volume moments. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to reconsider returning.
I hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit in which it is intended.

I recently heard about this place and had to try it and I have to say, the decor was absolutely adorable! The space was full of charm, with a whimsical bubble snow machine that added a fun, festive touch to the atmosphere. It really set a cozy, magical vibe.
The food prices were surprisingly reasonable, and everything we ordered was tasty. However, the fries were a bit of a letdown—they were very salty, almost to the point of being overwhelming. That said, the rest of the dishes were delicious and well-seasoned.
The drinks, though, were quite good but definitely on the pricier side. While they were well-crafted and enjoyable, they might not be the best option if you’re watching your budget.
Overall, it’s a great spot for a fun atmosphere, good food, and tasty drinks, though you might want to skip the overly salty fries!

The food was amazing EVERY DAY! And don’t get me started on the service! I wish I could remember the names of the three people that helped us during our 4 day stay. Please don’t take these descriptions wrong, it’s the only way I can think to make sure the right people get the credit!! Tuesday night a black woman probably mid 30’s helped us (9pm or so)! She was so personable and made sure everything was super fresh! Thursday night we came in around 8:45-9pm and a light skinned guy with curly hair helped us! He was funny, attentive and just genuinely loved his job! We really appreciated him! There was also a white woman there with brown/blondish hair who was super helpful!!!! They all were amazing and because of them, this is where we will be staying again when we come back next month!!

We had a fun time here a couple of days before Christmas. We saw the ads for the Santa Pop Up night here and wanted to experience it. The place was packed when we got there, but we had reservations and were seated right away. The place was decorated top notch for the holidays. Even an electric Santa greeted us at the entrance! The ambiance was a warm holiday spirit with high energy! Great music! Laughter and happiness. My kind of place.
There was a special Santa Pop Up menu with drinks and eats specially created for the evening event. I ordered the Sipping Santa, and my daughter ordered the Secret Santa drink. Both were delicious. We also ordered a couple of special appetizers: Teriyaki Pineapple Meatballs and the Cream Cheese Wontons with Sauce. Ohhh, so good! The server was great also.
For those who look for IG photo opps, there was a special room for that. Red Gill had rented blown up Christmas characters for their customers to do photo opps with. Great idea, and we did it! Loved it!
Parking is in their free parking lot right next to the building. We look forward to going back on our next trip!

Been here a couple times now and loved each visit! Got to see the Sippin Santa pop up hosted here and wow was it impressive! Great food, drinks, and most importantly, staff! Everyone would stop and ask if we needed anything, regardless of who our actual server was. Had a great time and looking forward to going back again and again!

Cozy, warm and relaxing holiday setting as I dined this evening for the kickoff to “Sippin Santa” Pop Up. Enjoyed my fav mocktail drinks and also some ice cold NA Heineken beer! Amazingly delicious food. Great and tasty portions served. Management and staff are wonderfully friendly and professional. This place was pretty good! I was surprised how good the brisket was and my surf n turf burger was so filling! We are completely stuffed! The customer service was on point and our food came out in a timely manner. Our food was great and of course we had drinks. We will definitely come back to this location!
