Tried this food truck recently and really enjoyed it! The meat jun was the highlight—a balance of sweet, savory, and flavorful. The chicken katsu was crispy (even enjoying it an hour after I got it), and the mac salad was delicious without feeling too heavy. Portions are generous, and the rice was cooked just right.
Run by such a kind family. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Beaverton area, and I’d make the drive again.

Some seriously delicious food. Meat Jun was perfectly cooked, moist and crispy at the same time, seasoned so well.
Saimin was a favorite, served piping hot, noodles were chewy and perfectly done. Broth was savory and so satisfying.
Mac salad was probably the best I’ve ever had in the area. The food here is too good to be feel as homemade as it does.
But I guess that’s the best of both worlds.
This place is a gem.

“Beaverton’s Best Quick Comfort Food A Must-Try!”
Pelenaka’s Food Cart in Beaverton, Oregon is an absolute win for anyone craving delicious, satisfying, and affordable local-style comfort food. Their teriyaki chicken is unbelievably juicy with the perfect sweet-savory glaze. The meat jun tastes just like classic island home cooking tender, flavorful, and cooked with real care. The spam musubi is warm, fresh, and super addicting, and the noodles are packed with flavor without being oily.
What I love most is how perfect this spot is for Beaverton high school and college students looking for a filling meal between classes, and for busy office workers who want something quick, hearty, and consistently delicious.
Fast service, generous portions, local-style flavors that hit every time Pelenaka’s is officially my new go-to. Highly recommend!

It’s definitely one of the better carts at the BG Cartel, it’s a cool place to get standard Hawaiian dishes for a good price (I love that they offer a mini option, as these sorts of restaurants usually serve me too much). They also have some unique offerings that I would recommend, such as the meat jun, which is egg crusted beef, and the food tastes good. They give you rice and macaroni salad as a side, though I don’t think the mac is the best. It’s not my favorite Hawaiian place that I have tried, but it’s convenient, service is fast and friendly, and it does offer solid food.

Had heard about this food truck from my daughter who had tried it. It came with glowing reviews so they had a big reputation to live up to.
That being said- omg this was amazing! I was craving real Hawaiian meat jun so obviously I ordered it. Literally the best meat jun I’ve ever had. Perfect- hot juicy and tasty with a great sauce. I will be back to have again. Satisfied every Hawaiian craving. Sooo good! The mac salad was awesome as well. Didn’t remind me of anyone elses- just so good!
My wife had the chicken katsu – phenomenal! The only comparison I can compare to is Da Kitchen in Maui. That may be the highest compliment I can give. Outstanding!
My highest recommendation if you love Hawaiian food! Authentic flavors- so good!

Had the special Lua lua/kalua pork special with rice and Mac salad. It was so tender and a good tasting piece of meat. The lua lua pork was cooked in a banana leaf. It was described as Smokey and looks like spinach with it. That was accurate. I liked it but I rated it 4/5 bc it didn’t have any other flavor besides salt and smoke. That could be exactly correct but it wasn’t my favorite. I would rate the Mac salad 5/5 and the kalua pork was really tender and good. Overall a great meal, lots of food for the price, definitely could get two meals from it.

I don’t usually do reviews but felt compelled to after having lunch here today. This was easily the best Loco Moco I’ve ever had (it’s not even close). The egg was cooked to perfection, the savory gravy was clearly from scratch, using the fond from the perfectly seasoned burger patty, and the price made it one of the most affordable (and best value) of all the options in the cart pod. Run, don’t walk to check this place out and have the very sweet auntie take your order!

Portions are huge and food is very delicious. I ordered the Kalua pork plate (regular size). It came with 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of Mac salad, and meat for 2-3 people.

Shoyu chicken special had a great sauce and plenty of it. Chicken fell right off the bone but a smidge dry (but great with all the sauce). Mac salad is basic but the food was ready quickly. Would totally go again.
