I have eaten there over five different times during my travels to the Georgia Coast. This place is my go to for Seafood! Chef Jerome is so friendly and he always comes out to make sure that our food was to our expectations, always above and beyond. I took my wife, daughter and granddaughter there. Chef Jerome brought out his Parrot for my Granddaughter to see and she loved it, then he took us to the Parrot’s room. It was full of Teddy Bears and gave my (5 yr. Old) Granddaughter one. She sleeps with it to this day and ask if she can go back. The Shrimp, Onion Rings, are my favorite and worth the drive. We are go down to Brunswick next month for a wedding and this is one place on our go to list. Sorry Chef Jerome I should have done this review last year when we were down for another wedding, but we will see you soon and probably bringing friends with us. Thank you for treating us like your family. Powers Family, Carrollton, GA.

The food was amazing, and so was the atmosphere. I’m a little prissy, maybe even boogie, so I didn’t want to stay. I’m so glad I did. I simply love Angel and Chef! Will definitely be back.

Stopped there in the evening hours. Ordered the wheelchair special plate. My meal came with 2 sides of Mac n Cheese and lightly sweetened potato salad, a piece of fish, lightly breaded shrimp, a higher piece of meat slathered in bbq sauce. In addition I got the pecan pie and a ginger ale soda. The decor is an electric mix of old memorabilia and posters of movie stars and pictures of past patrons. I was disappointed. This place came highly recommended. The potato salad did not need to be sweetened, the fish was bland, the shrimp was good because it was lightly breaded but bland too. The pecan pie felt and looked store bought. The hush puppies with that bit of corn was the best! Menu items are priced with tip roughly $25 to $100 plus depending on what you order and how many ppl are in your party. Heavily seafood based menu. So you will need cash as they don’t accept debit/credit cards.
This place is definitely something to behold. And if you are interested in any of the artifacts, they are for sale. The waitress I had and staff were very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated that immensely. The chef came out with his parrot and went around talking with everyone which was really cool. Go for the experience. Best part is it is not far from the Smallest Church in America!

I love the Old School Diner! The atmosphere is cool just have to accept the decor and eat! Wheel Chair platter is delicious with Shrimp, whiting and ribs has enough for 3 Togo containers! Cool unique gem in Townsend! Chef Jerome is a great host and definitely takes pride in customer service! Will be back! Google Maps is one road off at the end just look for the signs.

The moment we pulled into the parking lot we were greeted with hugs and smiles. Chef Jerome says you’re family here, make yourself at home. He was not lying at all. Homey atmosphere and fantastic food! Worth every penny. Definitely recommend the shrimp and hush puppies. Melt in your mouth goodness!!

Gonna be honest, we found this on google when we were hungry and was craving Seafood. Pulled in and it looked like an empty shanty on the outside. Kinda threw us for a loop at first. When we walked in we were greeted by Chef Jerome himself! Sat down and was in awe of the thousands on photos from patrons of this restaurant. We were blown away by this place. I’m telling you, this restaurant is literally the pinnacle example of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. The food was freaking amazing. Hit my soul. First thing served was Hushpuppies, and right off the bat, I knew this was a gem. We ordered the Wheelchair Platter for the 4 of us, and they were not kidding, it was a lot of food, and so damn good, best fried shrimp that I ever had in my life. After we ate, we got a tour of the place from Chef Jerome. Saw many pictures of Ben Affleck on the walls, quickly realized that he comes here all the time. It’s insane. Y’all have to try this place because this food is so bomb, and it’s so welcoming and a friendly place and obviously you have to get a picture with Chef before you leave We are coming back for sure, and this is becoming a regular dining spot for us. Thank you Chef!

Called ahead for an early Sunday dinner for 6 people. Chef Jerome greeted us with warm hugs and set the tone for a memorable, fun, and unique evening! The food was outstanding and service felt like you were home. The decor is wacky, neat, funny, and eclectic. He brought us sweet potato fries to try and, when he realized my 5 year old son loved his hush puppies, he immediately went back and made him more 🙂 left with full stomachs and take out boxes. we will definitely be back!

Top notch place. I visited this place about 20 years ago and this time I brought my husband here of 9 years.
Same awesome food and experience
My husband started texting family and friends he’s eclectic also and loved everything about old school diner. I text my friend to tell her I went here again. She laughed and said she hoped I didn’t see our pictures. Because we was both married to someone else. lol
When we walked in we got the best hugs from Chef Jerome saying welcome Family we are glad you are here. That was awesome
