Reviews
My friend got the vegan breakfast tacos and I got the pot roast with jalapeño grits and we shared an order of the Georgia Peach Pancakes. Everything was amazingly delicious. Substantial portions and cooked to perfection!
Our server was friendly, super knowledgeable about the menu and on point with everything we needed. The restaurant was also pretty crowded with a great vibe and energy for an otherwise cold winter day. The owner also stopped by and thanked us for coming in- so nice!
I will definitely be back to this place, now that I know what’s going on in Hyde Park lol. Can’t recommend this place enough for legit, delicious southern cooking.
Went to Dawn AM Eatery for brunch and overall had a good experience. The food was solid, though I’m personally not a fan of catfish or chicken fried in egg, it can take away from the seasoning for me (just my opinion). Portions were generous.
Must-try…the pot roast and grits, absolutely amazing and the standout dish. The cinnamon roll French toast was good, mac and cheese was decent, and the greens were well seasoned. Drinks were good too; I had the martini flight.
Service was excellent, great customer service across the board. The vibe is exactly what the name suggests: a clean, neat, casual eatery. Bar service can be a little slow when they’re busy, and parking in the area can be tight, so be prepared to park on nearby streets.
Would I go back? Yes, and again if you love pot roast, don’t skip the pot roast and grits.
We were warmly welcomed at the front desk by two lovely young ladies who seemed genuinely excited to have us. Their energy set the tone for a great experience. We were seated right away, and shortly after, our server Layla came by to greet us. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She patiently walked us through our options and made us feel completely at ease while we decided what to order.
Here’s what we ordered:
The Fish Fry
(Choice of fried or blackened catfish fillets, served with two comforting Southern sides)
Our sides:
Mac & Cheese
Yams
Greens
Since we were sharing, we added an extra side, and honestly, everything was delicious. When I asked my mom what she thought, she said, “10/10!” We both especially loved the yams, they had a unique citrusy twist that was different from what we’re used to, but still very tasty.
The restaurant itself was bright, cheerful, and spotless. The color palette immediately lifts your mood, and the bathroom was just as clean and well-maintained.
Overall: Amazing food, impeccable service, and a beautifully kept space. Definitely ask for Layla if you visit, she truly made our experience memorable.
My husband and I have visited Dawn AM Eatery several times and have never had an issue like this before, which makes this experience even more shocking. We arrived at 12:30 PM, and while we did forget to make a reservation, we were provided with a one-hour wait estimate, which we accepted in good faith.
What we did not expect was to wait nearly 2.5 hours with no clear communication, updates, or accountability as the wait time continued to stretch. If estimates change—which we understand can happen—there should be transparent and proactive communication so guests can make informed decisions instead of standing around indefinitely.
To make matters worse, this restaurant previously enforced a 1.5-hour table limit to ensure fair service. That policy was clearly not being followed during our visit, as parties who had been seated 3–4 hours before us remained at their tables while new guests continued waiting.
We are reasonable customers. We understand busy days and occasional delays. What’s unacceptable is inaccurate wait times paired with a complete lack of communication. Because we’ve had great experiences here before, this was genuinely surprising—and concerning—if this is the standard being carried into the new year.
Great food does not excuse poor operations. We hope leadership takes this feedback seriously, because this experience fell far below what we’ve come to expect from Dawn AM Eatery.
First of all, the service was incredible. We had a young man named Raheem, who was professional, knowledgeable, and honest! His suggestions made ordering very easy. We even met the owner, who was very personable and helpful. The food was good, and I know Ill be back to visit again soon.
