Had an amazing experience at Pepper Tales here in San Jose! I ordered the Tandoori Mix Platter, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the meats were tender and juicy, and everything tasted fresh and authentic.

The ambiance was warm and welcoming — a great place to relax and spend quality time with your loved ones. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better.

Definitely coming back again. Highly recommend if you’re craving flavorful Indian food in San Jose!

I cannot rate less than 1 star, otherwise I would have.
We had Chili Chicken and Murgh Prada Biryani( Chicken biryani). The Chili chicken was a bit okay but the biryani was not good at all. It had no flavors, tasted as if washed in water after cooking and we could only taste vinegar in it.

I have picked up takeout three times and every meal has been fantastic. The butter chicken and chicken biryani are exceptional, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Always a treat!

Delicious Tikka Fries & veg Pakora (snackes on some in the car, good portions)
Can’t wait to try more dishes when I have time to sit down, the restaurant has outdoor seating next to the park in the neighborhood with other local businesses.
Show some support and enjoy great food!

This place is sooo good. My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night and had amazing service and even better food. We ordered 6 different items and everything was amazing. We got so full and had leftovers, all for a very affordable price. The quality of the food was great and we were really impressed with the atmosphere.

If you love your stomach and your dollars, you need to avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Taste and Service both were really poor. Chicken Biryani was so tasteless and caused me an upset stomach.

Save yourself from this.

This place used to be called Swaad, and it was the best Indian restaurant in the South Bay, imho. Sadly, how far it has fallen. I don’t know how many times the ownership has changed since the pandemic, but it seems like at least twice. Food is decent but nowhere near the quality it used to be. Go look at review photos of food from before 2019 and compare them to recent ones.

Most recently, I ordered online to pick up. Just before my order was supposed to be ready, I got a phone call saying that there was a problem with the system and they needed to take my order over the phone. This was going to take another 20 minutes on top of the original 20. I waited for 25 minutes at the restaurant, and only then they told me they were out of one of my items. I ordered a substitution, face-to-face, and another 5 to 7 minutes later he tells me they’re out of that. In total, it took them an hour to have my order ready and 40 minutes of that was waiting at the restaurant. While I was waiting, I saw tables bring back dishes that were cold and not get what they ordered. I also heard that there were delivery app orders with hour waits. When they did complete my order, they almost put the wrong item in my bag.

The server obviously had food industry experience and was trying to keep the ship afloat. I felt really sorry for him, because he seemed to be on top of everything while the two cooks (owners?) in the kitchen fumbled around and didn’t listen to him. He apologized and offered me a free soda and free naan at least. The vibe in there was tense, though. Looks like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares waiting to happen. Makes me sad, because at one time, it was my favorite. But, all good things…

We were a group of 6, and the service and seating were fantastic. The naan was good quality, and the seafood curry was tasty. The spice level was a little on the milder side but you can request more spicy. We had gulab jamun for dessert and it was warm, fresh, and tasted superbly.

100% worth every penny .

The Afgu Naan with Malai Kofta and Zafran veg pilaf is a literal treat on a cold winter day.

Highly recommend.

One of the most affordable yet delicious Indian restaurants in Bay Area and South-bay.
