Great destination dining!!! If you like country cooked food and plenty of it, you need to travel to Maidens, VA for Tanglewood’s “Family Style” offering. The fried Chicken is sublime , Pot Roast sumptuous, and Country Ham & Pulled Pork BBQ delicious !!! The sides of Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Coleslaw, Greens, Cornbread and Biscuits were tasty and never ran out !!!! Great value $$ for all-you-can-eat!
Save room (or not) for dessert. The Cobbler w/ Ice Cream and the Buttermilk Pecan Pie are not to miss; something special indeed!!
Bring the fam and have an enjoyable celebration of food….

Just amazing. Every single time everyone is so kind here and so fast. The food is amazing too and tastes so homemade. I love the idea of family style dining.
The atmosphere just reminds everyone of their grandma’s house.
Amazing, especially for birthdays 🙂

I first went to Tanglewood as a kid in the 80s-90s; it was a preferred location for my grandparents to celebrate special occasions with our family as it had the feel and taste of a LOVELY authentic southern family dinner. It always felt much like a normal Sunday supper at Mamaw and Papaw’s house without the burden of them being responsible for providing the meal and cleanup thereof.

I hadn’t been there in over 20 years, but told my wife many times about the memories, including my dad telling us a particular ghost story of a nearby house in which he had a personal experience and would always tease me and my sisters by driving down the long private drive until we were squealing to turn around (to be fair – we always begged him to take us there, but would get cold feet the closer we got). I always said we have to remember to go there when we have the time for one of our nights eating out. It’s a bit of a drive for us, so it wasn’t always top of mind or exactly convenient when we were going out for dinner. Recently, we wanted to go out to eat somewhere different than our normal options and go-to spots, and I got so excited when I remembered Tanglewood!

Needless to say, it was exactly as I remembered. Such a nostalgic experience that brought back so many wonderful memories. The down home country charm and delicious Sunday supper are well worth the drive, and now I’m thrilled my wife also can’t wait to go back. I definitely recommend going with the full family style meal for parties of 2 or more. Thank you for maintaining the quality and experience that I can now share with others!

We enjoyed our experience at Tanglewood Ordinary. The chicken was good, the pot roast was delicious! We liked the sides. I wasn’t a fan of the mac ‘n chs but my husband was. Wasn’t impressed with the biscuits, I didn’t try the cornbread. The sweet iced tea was fabulous! The apple cobbler was great! Overall we enjoyed our meal and the server was fantastic!

A 30 minute drive from Glen Allen on Route 6 (Patterson Ave) on the right side of the road is the wonderful Tanglewood Ordinary Restaurant. The short drive was well worth the trip for a “family style” (all you can eat), home cooked, southern meal.
We had Fried Chicken, BBQ, Corn Bread, Biscuits, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, Mixed Greens, Carrots, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy!! The food had good depth of flavor, without being overly salty, or greasy, the chicken was crispy well cooked without being dry, the veggies were well seasoned, and the desserts were delicious – a perfect ending to the meal (but do yourself a favor and try the Buttermilk Pecan Pie) My wife a self proclaimed Pecan Pie Snob, would make the drive just for the Pie!!
The staff were friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming, explaining how it all worked, and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed every bite, but there was more we could have chosen from, and the menu changes on the weekends! Things like Pot Roast, homemade Mac & Cheese… Oh my gosh… We must come back!!!
If you haven’t tried it, make a reservation, and enjoy the drive.

This was amazing experience! Great service a nice family feal. Food was next level. You order food for the table and eat like a thanksgiving meal I had chiekcn and roast beef as my meat and so many sides. Finished off with a cup of apple cobbler all for a very reasonable $65. I would highly recommend taking the drive out here for a great meal

Food: large quantity, quality not so much.
Limited drink selection with meal.
Our group planner brought cake to celebrate a birthday. TOrdinary gracefully served everyone at our table with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
