The food was fantastic, but it took a while for everything to be correct. Example they forgot the bacon on the bacon cheeseburger & we the adults, all ordered drinks. Asked for water as well. We had to ask for the water 3 times and our waitress never came back for refills. The kids wanted dessert but we weren’t even offered a dessert menu.

Even with the issues tho, the service was ok our server was very nice and the food was really good. Also, its not over priced.

We will come back, I just hope we can get refills next time.

I’ve tried this place several times for lunch and it’s always just okay or sometimes bad. Tenderloins here are small and overcooked, it shouldn’t be THAT crunchy, and look how dark it is. Either forgotten about, dirty grease, or both.

I’ve gotten dogs on stale buns, old fries that were obviously sitting in a fryer basket and were left over, barely warm food… just not good.

East Port Galley Restaurant is absolutely amazing! They have the absolute best homemade tenderloin in the area. The onion rings are awesome and the sweet potato fries are thick and perfectly cooked! I would give 10 stars if it was possible. Definitely will be back.

My friend Doug’s favorite place to get a tenderloin.

My friend Doug has family that lives in Ohio. Doug lived in Illinois but eventually moved back to Ohio. During his long time in Illinois, he got to enjoy some of local delicacies. One of those things turns out to be tenderloins. He mentioned that in Ohio, tenderloins are hard to come by. As in, they are impossible to find.

So, it has become tradition that when Doug comes here to visit, we visit The Galley so Doug can get his tenderloin fix. This particular visit wasn’t with Doug but because of him, I am pretty familiar with the place. Instead, I came here with my dad who hadn’t been here since I was in my teens.

We grabbed a seat and poured over the menu. I wasn’t sure what my dad was going to order but I knew I had to get a tenderloin. Doug’s tradition wore off on me, it seems. We placed our orders and small talked while waiting for our food.

Part of the cool thing about The Galley is the artwork on the walls. Or, the artwork is the wall. Sadly, I don’t have any photos to show you what I am talking about but one of the main walls is a landscape painting of the Peoria skyline. If/when I go back, I will take some photos of the interior and update this post.

It wasn’t too long before our food came out. The tenderloin looked fantastic as it always does. We dug in to appease the growling that was growing in our bellies. I can say that the food tasted as good as it always does. The tenderloin is your usual giant slab of deep-fried meat that is 7x too large for the bun. You comically have to nibble at the tenderloin’s circumference until you have it down to a size that allows you to get some bun and toppings with each bite. At that point, you break out in a bit of a meat sweat as you wonder if you have the room in your belly for the actual sandwich. Add in the fact that you downed half an order of fries during this entire time and you know you are going to loosen your pants before the meal is done.

The food here is pretty dang good. I’ve only ever had the tenderloin from what I recall so I can only vouch for that, but if you are itching for a tenderloin experience, you can’t go wrong here. In fact, the whole place has a pub vibe to it. (I consider a pub to be a bar that has a full menu to order from.) You can sit at the bar to enjoy your meal or you can bring the family to one of the many tables they have. Overall, a pretty neat experience from a place that looks unassuming from the main road.

I’m anxiously awaiting Doug’s return to Illinois so we can get our usual tenderloins at The Galley.

Very friendly place, I must say. The waitresses were genuinely nice with sincere smiles. I personally just had appetizers, which were fine. Just what is to be expected of appetizers. But the prices were reasonable! Other people at the table got meals.. and there wasn’t one complaint. If you ask for a side of ranch, you get a yummy bowl full. Who would complain about that? Yum!!
