After a disappointing Valentine’s Day experience, Oliver’s went above and beyond to make things right. We returned last Friday for a dinner, and it was truly wonderful from start to finish.

The team was warm, attentive, and clearly committed to making sure we had a great experience. The meal was excellent, the hospitality felt genuine, and the overall evening reflected the level of quality and care you hope for when dining out.

I really appreciate that they took our concerns seriously and followed through so thoughtfully. It says a lot about a restaurant when they are willing to own a mistake and turn it into such a positive experience. Thank you to Luke and the Oliver’s team for the kindness and professionalism. We left feeling very cared for, and we look forward to coming back.

I ate there with my wife and we both agreed the service was terrible. We arrived at 9:00 pm and were seated at 9:15 pm but didn’t get our food til around 10:30 (after it was already closed). It took over an hour for everyone in the back of the restaurant to receive the food. The server didn’t warn us ahead of time that the two pasta dishes were out which is significant considering there are only about 12 main dish menu items. We both ordered the burger, and they didn’t have any other fixens for the burgers such as raw onions, lettuce, tomatoes. They said they didn’t put those on the burgers because the because the burgers are “good the way they are” (this isn’t France or some elegant restaurant where this claim can be backed up). This restaurant has several bait-and-switch tactics and are riding off the coat tails of the Michelin star restaurant that was in the same location prior to COVID. They charge premium prices but deliver mediocre (cheap) food items. The fact they label the restaurant as 1930’s LA-style supper club signals everything that is wrong with America (making something something sound fancy and exclusive but is in fact a veneer of cheap gimmicks). The owners (who are a non-sociable pair hiding in the background during their failed operations) do know their history because the 1930’s was the Great Depression, which is an unlikely era to foster an elegant dining experience—that would be the 1920’s The Gilded Age. Back to the review, the restaurant had all this tacky memorabilia and decor haphazardly tacked on the walls—like clocks and brackets and fake plants—a cheap Hobby Lobby replica of Art Deco just like the service and food is a mediocre experience with lingering feeling of buyer’s remorse.

Food 2/5: could be passable but at much lower prices. Gnocchi and Risotto menu options not available, essential burger ingredients not available (raw onions, tomato, lettuce), some drinks overpriced like Tequila Sunrise (the drink is called ‘Tequila Sunset’),
Service: 1/5 extremely slow, arrived 8:45 pm, seated at 9:30 pm (told at 9:15 pm), left after 11 pm but restaurant technically closed at 10 pm (probably shouldn’t have seated us)
Atmosphere: 1/5 tacky and cheap and low-effort.

Overall: Negative experience across the board.

The owners are out of touch and so is their menu, service and ambiance.

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I came here for dinner and had a great time the atmosphere is just lovely but what I truly enjoyed was our drinks and food. Definitely will be back soon. The drinks were made just right while every dish was individually amazing it’s in own way. Highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed!

I would recommend.

Overall we had a nice NYE experience. With a reservation we still had approx. 15min wait (reasonable for a holiday & bar resy).

It took the server a minute to acknowledge us and get back to take our order. The food was good but a few items were light on flavor.

What I had:
– Burger w/ fries
– Truffle gnocchi
– NYE Punch
Bartenders Choice (asked them to make a gin cocktail of their choice)

Burger is worth the type – delicious!
Fries were a bit light on flavor in comparison and not hot.
Truffle gnocchi was visually appealing, cooked well, very very light flavor, the Truffle nor creamy cheese flavor came through

I would go again & try something new!

First time here and it won’t be my last. I’ve been around Chicago for years and this is easily one of the best burgers in the city. You have to get the truffle fries. The best part though is their secret Oliver’s Sauce. I’m dying to know what they put in it and I’m rationing my takeaway cup. (Call 911 JK!)

The Coconut Key Lime pie for dessert was a life affirming treat and a must order. The graham cracker crust is divine. The ambiance is top notch and the company I was with made it even better. 😉

Huge shoutout to Halley who delivered best in class hospitality and made the entire experience warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back. If you’re reading this, just make the reservation or stop in ASAP.

Stopped here after work for a late night drink. The tini espresso martini was delicious. There was a patron here who stormed out of the establishment to confront me about my parking it was both odd and uncomfortable. So the patronage here can be a little surly. There was a weird sewage smell at the seats by the window. When someone came by to check on me I informed them and they told me I could move anywhere else if I’d like. They kindly brought over some strong incense which helped with the smell. Overall an interesting experience.

This place has a vibe similar to Maxwells Trading. I was told that the brains behind the kitchen team is linked to The French Laundry (I dont have a basis for comparison); and I found that the food was excellent.

I have heard much about their cheeseburger, which was my intention to try but instead I started with their oysters capped with osetra caviar in a strawberry vinegar base. Amazing from the briny to the tart to the delicate chew and pop of the caviar and smoked trout roe.

Next was their crazy toast (part of their daily Golden Hour menu). This very thick yet soft and fluffy sourdough is grilled in beef fat and then covered in their homemade steak sauce and whipped parmesan. This was super flavorful and hearty.

But their truffle gnocchi was the star!!! The comté was velvety and creamy which perfectly complimented the pillowy gnocchi! I could eat tons of this dish!!

The staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu pricing, though I didnt pay close attention and I believe that I was slightly overcharged.

Nonetheless, a definite spot to come back to next time I am in the area.

Excellent experience all around from the food, service, and atmosphere. They’ve greatly expanded with the large dining room now. The half chicken and oysters with smoked salmon roe were highlights!

This place is very special. The staff is super kind and the food is delicious. When I was done drinking, they also had non-caffeinated tea. Candles and there were also were also pads and tampons from a very good brand in the bathroom – for free. What in the world?! I cannot exaggerate when I say going here and sitting at the bar was like getting a warm hug. The Tuesday night special was perfect (burger & fries). I was so happy here, even alone just reading my book. For the love of God, please go. Goodbye. Love, Tues

We had a wonderful experience at Oliver’s. I celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday there, and the staff made the night feel really special. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and they even surprised us with a handwritten card and some complimentary snacks.
Thank you to the team for making our evening memorable — we’ll definitely come back again!
