Excellent time! Went for Christmas. They were extremely crowded, but we were able to sit at a table with strangers and ended up meeting some great folks. It was quite the Christmas/holiday experience.
The food was good. They did run out of appetizers but I think that just comes with how crowded it was. The service was good. They managed to get the food out pretty quick once we ordered.
The food was pretty reasonably priced, it wasn’t a cheap Chinese place (like Chicago Chinatown cheap) but it wasn’t expensive and the food was good and portions were big. I’d say expect to spend around 20-25 per person (in late 2025 going into 2026).
I really liked the atmosphere here. It has a 90s sort of theme to it. Really enjoy it.
Would definitely recommend this spot! Go there for Christmas/the holiday and you will have a great time! We will definitely be back again.

We were walking around the area and came across Wonton King. The need to have Chinese food overtook and we regretted it with the very first bite.
The recent reviews talk so highly of the place and the reviews that are older than a year have had terrible experiences. We unfortunately share the same sentiment. I wish we had followed through the reviews written in the past because they clearly are more in number than the recent ones. The food was really bad. We were carried away when ordering and placed a huge order of crab rangoons, sesame crispy beef, kung pao chicken (spicy) along with chicken lo mein.
Crab Rangoons: Doughy, undercooked, imitation meat was fine, but it could certainly be better. Something didn’t feel right. It wasn’t the takeaway Chinese we love.
Sesame Crispy Beef: It wasn’t crispy, it was loaded with sesame seeds, and the meat was extremely tough. The pieces look big in the picture because it is doubly coated with cornflour to make them look big. Ugh!
Kung Pao Chicken: The thought of this being spicy had us excited. We’ve always had the sweeter version so we were really keen on this one. Just big pieces of red chilies, way too many peanuts, and bland in terms of flavor. There was no gravy to eat with the giant tub of clumpy rice they packed with it. Disappointed again!
Chicken Lo Mein: The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the Lo Mein was fantastic. It looked okay but tasted bomb. The gravies were bummers and nothing could fix them. They left us with a dry mouth and no flavor whatsoever, however, the noodles were perfectly cooked and seasoned just right.
Wonton King is food that only a king that has no need for flavor, no appetite, no tastebuds would go for! Please don’t make the mistake of going here. You will come back feeling hungrier!

I would be willing to bet I’ve dined at Ling’s place something over 100 times at this point. Back when I was a Yelper, I hosted about a half-dozen events at this place and pretty much everyone loved it. I brought clients and customers here for business lunches, etc.
Here’s the very first review I wrote of the place back in about 2014. Pictures were taken over the years with the most recent being Christmas Day 2025…
Great Dim Sum place in the same basic geography where most of the Dim Sum in the area can be found. I realize that STL does not have a “China Town” per se but Olive east of 170 seems like it is close enough.
A few notes:
Their chang fun were possibly the best I’ve had in STL. The noodles were cooked perfectly, slightly sweet and presented an overall sense of freshness. Not sure what continbuted to that but it may have something to do with the fact that they appeared to be a cook-to-order item. We tried the beef, shrimp and pork – that would be a list in ascending order of yumminess for those following along at home. The pork was my favorite but the wife preferred the shrimp.
Kid 2 rejected the ha gow. I thought they were fine but she didn’t like them.
My favorite bite of the day was the pan-seared steamed shrimp dumpling. Not a gelatenous dumpling, rather it was from the sweet rice flour bun group of offerings. The mixture of shrimp and vegetables paired really well with the sweetness of the dough and the crispiness of the sear. I will certainly crave that dish in the future.
The place was a bit warm when we visited. They were also completely full and we were the only non-Asians there. Maybe you take the good with the bad?
This may just be my new favorite Dim Sum place but I am fickle and prone to revert to Mandarin House without notice.

Wow!!! Admittedly this place was a little expensive for my tastes, but I nabbed a 50% off coupon and decided to give them a go. They are worth the price, y’all. Holy crap. I say this as someone who has lived in New York City: this was the best hot and sour soup, AND the best beef chow fun that I’ve ever had.
No lie. Wonton King was fantastic!!!! The beef in the chow fun was perfectly velveted, giving it that melt-in-your-mouth texture. Usually I have to add a little soy sauce to the sauce, as I find Chow Fun is often made with tradition/heritage in mind unlike super salty Americanized dishes, and I didn’t need to add any soy sauce to this. The sauce was perfect. And the noodles! Listen…I kind of think they’re using leftover Cheung Fun noodles and not Ho Fun, because these suckers were way thicker and wider than any noodles I’ve ever had in chow fun or bought when making my own. But let me tell you, it was fantastic. The noodles were perfectly tender with a slight chew. I prefer whatever noodles they’ve come up with here to anything I’ve had elsewhere.
The hot and sour soup was top notch. Not greasy, not bitter, and loaded with traditional veggies and ingredients.
I am IMPRESSED and will absolutely be coming back at full price! When I saw the title, I was expecting a dumpling-heavy menu, but what a fantastic surprise to see my favorite dishes done so perfectly.

Came to dine in with my siblings on 02/21 in the evening. The Red hair owner strikes again!! It’s giving bricky, she not eating. Take this as a warning she only favors our fair skin counterparts. If you are black, Latino, Asian, etc. the R E D hair owner will not be friendly towards you. We asked for a table for 3 she pointed at our table and said here with a disgusted look. Everyone else was asked what they were celebrating, how they were doing, how the food was. To me before even ordering she said it was going to take long. Told her not an issue, in fact our food came out quickly. Maybe she should know her kitchen staff better and their abilities. We all know she was trying to kick us out because of the wait but nice try Red Hair Crazy Lady you’re wrong just like that red messy mop on your head. After our meal we asked for boxes and in the mean time seated a big group of white people, three other people got their to go boxes, and get this was able to sing happy birthday to another group. I don’t think it should take 15-20 minutes to grab two boxes boo. Waste of my time I’m going to Lulus down the street next time where’s my pocket book.

Wow!! This place!! Wow wow wow wow WOW!! My family of 5 and were searching for a restaurant that was open on Thanksgiving for lunch. Turned out, by the grace of God, Wonton King was. Not from the area, I poked my head in to see if it was worth any kind of wait, and the restaurant looked legit. They were able to seat us immediately so I called the family in.
As we were being sat, the weight of our decision to eat at this fine establishment began to take hold…..this wasn’t your average midwestern Chinese restaurant. No, this was a legitimate, family run, old school dim sum dining experience, with standard entrees as a side dish.
We were lost and they knew it. We had never had dim sum and it showed. Once the owner (who was hilarious, kind, and super helpful) figured out we had no idea what was going on, she sat down with us at our table and walked us through the situation that we had gotten ourselves into.
Then, she asked what we all liked as far as protein, noodles, and veggies, snatched away our menus, lovingly shouted Chinese at her coworkers, ordered for us, and said, “have no fear.”
Soon after, our table began to fill up with amazing food that we would never have thought to order. The food was fresh, delicious, and pleased everyone from our 7-47 year olds.
Through our amazing experience, the owner continued to make sure we were being taken care of, and the staff were very friendly, explaining what every dish they presented was.
10/10 would recommend!! We are going to make this one of our staples!!

I arrived on a quiet afternoon and was told by the server to seat myself. The first red flag was the condition of the condiment bottles, which were sticky and unclean, not the best start for any dining experience.
I ordered the house special noodle, which was average at best-nothing special about the dish. To my disappointment, there was no follow-up to check if I was satisfied with the meal. The service further declined when another server presented the bill while I was still eating. When I requested an itemized bill, she outright refused, which I found unprofessional.
Another aspect that puzzled me was the rave reviews about the owner’s friendliness. Throughout my visit, the owner was seated at a table, seemingly preoccupied on the phone. There was zero interaction, leaving me wondering what all the buzz was about.
Overall, the visit was disappointing and I will not be returning to Wonton King.
