We had a large order with this restaurant and fairly disappointed that the Dubai chocolate strawberry cups and hummus were not up to par. The hummus was liquid like a soup and had no flavor. The strawberry cups were not ripe enough and did not taste like fresh. The kataifeh was not crunchy, but soggy. The rest of the meals we ordered were just sub par and did not look like the pictures that were depicted on their Facebook page. Definitely not worth the $40 we spent on dessert and an appetizer. I called to discuss how dissatisfied we were, we were told they had just bought the fruit today and made the pistachio cream fresh. Whoever I spoke with was not able to help me and did not give out the owner’s information to discuss further as to how to rectify the situation.

We visited Maki Burger and had a decent experience overall. The food was just okay. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out as amazing either. We tried a variety of items: chicken pakoras, gyro cheeseburger, maki burger, shrimp, crispy chicken sandwich, and Philly steak. All the sandwiches came with fries and fountain drinks. The fries were actually pretty good!
What really made the visit enjoyable was the service. The staff were friendly and checked in on us regularly, which we appreciated. The kids also had a good time playing in the playground area. While the food was mid, the service and family friendly atmosphere made up for it.

My kids and I loved this place food, service, atmosphere was amazing! Workers there were friendly welcomed us. We will definitely be coming back! I highly recommend for everyone! A play place for your little ones! It is halal as well for my Muslim brothers and sisters!!

The food is outstanding! This is the only place where the chef was kind enough to make Butter Chicken non-spicy just for us, since my husband and I can’t handle spicy food and it was absolutely delicious
My favorite is chicken wings. Juicy, crispy, packed with flavor hands down the BEST wings I’ve ever had in my life!
And now they’ve added new to the menu – the Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup and it’s a total mind-blower.

wonderful place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is very well-organized and spotless, which makes the experience even better. While some have mentioned that the kids’ play area is on the smaller side, I actually appreciated it—it felt safe and thoughtfully arranged within the limited space. It gives children a chance to play for a while as you wait for your food, which is a nice touch for families.
The grilled chicken burger was outstanding—absolutely delicious and highly recommended! On the other hand, the Philly steak burger could use some improvement, as it turned out quite oily and messy.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit with great value for money. I’d definitely come back.

Honest Impressions
Makki Grill is one of the better spots for Pakistani food in Palatine and it’s conveniently located just minutes from us. Most of our takeout orders have been fresh and flavorful, offering authentic Pakistani dishes (not Indian-style), which is always appreciated.
That said, the best items we’ve had from here are the tikka biryani, the Philly sandwich, and the chicken tenders (which the kids love). Their Dubai cup is also decent. Everything else we’ve tried has been okay, but nothing particularly memorable.
Unfortunately, my recent experience with the beef nihari was disappointing. The portion size was extremely small for the $24 price point. At that cost, you’d expect a high-end restaurant portion, and for a dish like nihari, this serving size should realistically be closer to $10. The taste also didn’t justify the price, making it feel overpriced overall.
The interior is simple and clean, which works well for a casual hangout. One area that could use improvement is the takeout packaging—Styrofoam containers aren’t ideal for piping-hot dishes like biryani or nihari, and better packaging would elevate the experience.
Makki Grill has strong potential and does several things right, but the beef nihari, in both portion and value, fell short this time.

I drove a good distance because I heard so many amazing things about their menu and their new menu speciality item the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup. I ate the butter chicken masala with the garlic naan bread which both dishes were perfect in every way! I loved the Dubai chocolate with the homemade pistachio cream which is my favorite! I couldn’t believe how good it was. As a treat when I was leaving the owner gave my 4 waffle pistachio cream eggs which again out of this world! Worth the drive and such a cute place!

Very bad experience on recent visit, very un-welcoming attitude from the staff, and it was very bad idea from the management to operate congested kids play area business and charges are more then the food they have in there restaurant. And it was very difficult for parents to spend good time having food instead having look at kids in the play area. We were argued in a way that we have to leave the restaurant while our order was being prepared. And we went to Buns on fire in Buffalo grove where they served the good food along with some fun items to be played on the table where kids enjoyed.
