Loved the live music and overall atmosphere of the restaurant. We had the crab hush puppies, grilled tuna, and a soft shell crab special. The drinks and appetizer/salads were great. Would not get the same entrees if visiting again.

Awesome addition to downtown Washington! Of course we had to try oysters and they were fantastic! We also had a steam basket and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we ate every last bite! We sat at the oyster bar and were impressed by the service we received from Brandon! Highly recommend if you’re looking for seafood!!

The food was amazing!!! I love the mule paintings and the modern feel of the business. I had the delicious first mate platter with broiled oysters and shrimp, also the asparagus side was perfect! Everyone in my party loved their dinners also.

Came in on Valentine’s with my boyfriend and shared the roasted oysters, I ordered a burger and fries and he got the pulled pork sandwich. I’m not sure if it was a bad oyster or the pork but he became violently ill 4 hours after eating and was sick the rest of the night. I attempted to contact management and did not hear back so just wanted to put it out there to hopefully prevent someone else from getting sick!Came in on Valentine’s with my boyfriend and shared the roasted oysters, I ordered a burger and fries and he got the pulled pork sandwich. Edited to add picture of the pulled pork sandwich, it comes as a topping for the burger but he requested it only be the pulled pork. Don’t know if it was this or the oysters but either way you guys suck

The Wash-BC Board of REALTORS® hosted its Christmas Party at the Stubborn Mule this year, and I want to share just how fantastic the experience was. Joan and Roger were incredible—responsive to every detail during the planning process and full of creative ideas. They built a menu that perfectly matched our country-western “Mule-tide Christmas” theme, and it was a hit.
Guests raved about the food, which was beautifully presented and thoughtfully arranged in stations throughout the restaurant—exactly as I’d hoped—so no one had to wait in long lines. The staff was attentive all evening, constantly circulating and keeping everything running smoothly. They created special drinks for the event that were delicious. The oyster bar was especially popular, encouraging everyone to wander, mingle, and break out of their usual work groups.
With about 70 attendees, the space couldn’t have been better suited. The atmosphere, service, and setup all came together to make it a wonderful and memorable event.

We had a wonderful dinner here! The food and service were both stellar and well worth the price point. The lobster and crab dip is the best I’ve had in the area by a long shot. The steak is perfectly seasoned and dessert was delicious. Highly recommend!

Had steamed oysters oysters and steamed shrimp. Food was excellent and service was the best I’ve ever had at an oysters bar. Already planning on going back for my birthday. The 1 hour and 20 minute drive is certainly worth it. Prices are competitive.

Prices are above what the food quality is. The lobster roll was not lobster, the first bite all you taste is imagination crab. Atmosphere was nice and seating area was good. Our waitress was amazing and took good care of us. The shrimp and grits need the spices toned down as it’s overpowering everything else. I have ate at several hundred seafood restaurants and this establishment is below standard. I see this place as a place the owners friends can come hang out. It’s more of a bar not a restaurant.

The best part is that Ellen is back behind the bar ! I had steamed clams which were tiny and blackened tuna sandwich, too much bread and cold (it would have been much better if it had come out warm). My husband had fish and chips and said that there were too many fries and one piece of fish. Our friends had oyster po boy and she said it was very good except for the bread and our other friend got possum in the trash and it looked good and massive. One friend ordered a shooter and never got it. My drink was good, everyone else had beer. The service was good and very polite. I will be back but will absolutely try something else.

Finally, a restaurant with excellent oyster shucking talent! Cold, salty oysters, shucked from their shells with surgical precision. Plump unbroken bellies, all floating in that brine liquor of the oysters. Please keep it up. Congratulations
Service was very good, staff eager to learn. Kitchen, from what we ordered Tuna Sandwich and Captains platter, all well prepared n
