The food and the service at this restaurant were both amazing! The servers were so good, I feel like they should all get raises! I got the lobster roll with the warm butter, which was elite and then also got a bunch of oysters – which were served fresh and delicious. There are multiple oyster shots you can get where you get a shot of alcohol with a fun Pacific oyster inside, that was a lot of fun! Oh also, I tried caviar for the first time, it wasn’t all that it’s made out to be, but it was a fun first-time experience nonetheless!

Amazing oysters. We came for the happy hour special. $2 Pacific and $3 Atlantic oysters.
The Pacific oysters were huge for $2! We were very pleased with these and quality was good! Very fresh and tasty. We had 18 of these.
The Atlantic were smaller but very good quality, and tasted even better than the Pacific. We had 6 of these.
We both really enjoyed the happy hour, the quality and the taste. We will be back for sure! Thanks!

This is a review from August 2, 2025: We stopped at Shuck Taylor’s on a whim while off the ship for the day, and I’m so glad we did. Even without a reservation, they accommodated the two of us last minute with genuine hospitality. It’s a simple, no-frills spot, but the food was absolutely extraordinary.
The attention to detail was impeccable—from the freshly shucked oysters served with a pile of freshly grated horseradish to their own house-made oyster spirit, which added an unexpected flavor burst to a glorious Bloody Caesar. The Dungeness crab was to die for—sweet, rich, and perfectly prepared.
One of the standout dishes was the buffalo oysters—totally unique and so delicious I wanted to order more, but I was already too full. Sitting at the bar felt casual, but the warmth and attentiveness of the staff (including, I believe, the owner) really elevated the whole experience.
Highly recommended. This place is a gem

I just had my first experience trying oysters at the age of 26 and with food allergies the staff accommodated me with not a single feeling of being an issue. I could not be more happy with my first experience eating oysters. Thank you to all three of the wonderful staff members on the floor tonight and a big shout of to the kitchen for the octopus ceviche. Absolutely delightful experience. Shuck Taylor’s for the win !

We visited for the Crab Boil for 2, and while the flavors were good, we were a bit disappointed that about half of the mussels didn’t taste quite right. The staff kindly explained that seafood can lose some freshness after leaving the ocean, but it was still hard to see that as the norm when half the batch was affected—especially compared to our previous experiences at other local spots.

The happy hour oysters are a bit small. Get the regular ones if you can. The lobster roll was not very memorable. The lobster was a little rubbery and the bread felt like a regular hot dog bun you get at a grocery store. Things just seemed..stale. The coleslaw was just okay. The dish is definitely not worth 45$. However, the service was amazing and it was lovely talking to the staff at the bar!

Favorite place in town to get oysters! They have a rotating selection that offers new flavors everytime I go. The owner and staff are also kind and knowledgeable, they are happy to tell you about each species and where they came from. Happy hour prices can’t be beat.

What a beautiful place with fresh and delicious oysters! The staff was very nice and friendly, they recommended the souke oysters and lobster roll. Everything was absolutely delicious! With a glass full of wine… and I really meant full! Lovely place! Highly recommend!

Had an amazing experience at Shuck Taylor’s in downtown Victoria! We tried both the hot and cold lobster rolls and honestly couldn’t pick a favourite — both were incredibly fresh, flavourful, and perfectly prepared. Even the fries were next-level delicious and packed with flavour.
The atmosphere was welcoming and fun, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Victoria!
