Phenomenal experience, pizza and wings were perfection! Service was helpful and accommodating. Prices were fair and the food was worth the money.
Truly a hidden gem, will definitely be a returning customer!

We went to Alabama to go hiking and spotted Joe’s. After reading the reviews, we went back a few days later.
Wow, what an amazing pizza . We ate inside even tho there was only 1 table. I think this place is more takeout than anything, but that didn’t stop us.
We ordered a Supreme which was delivered to our tiny table piping hot with delicious fresh ingredients. Every bite was amazing. The sauce was perfect, a good flavor, and not too thick. The cheese was nice and stringy, just how we like it. Even the price was good. I would not hesitate to drive the hour and a half again to go get another pizza, and I definitely plan on doing just that.
I think the nice covered picnic tables to use in the warmer months on the side of the building are beneficial for tourists like myself, and they sit probably 6 to 8 people. A big plus!I highly recommend it!
Update: I went back again on a day that said they were open and they were closed, so just in case, I would call first.

I’ve ate at Joe’s pizza for years. Never had a problem but since it’s changed hands. I ordered a large supreme pizza and got home. The crust was overcooked any the pizza is not the same as Joe’s. Pizza crust was burnt. I’m calling tomorrow and complaining. Will not eat there every again

Moved back and forth to the area from the Chicago burbs and have been looking for a pie even close to what you get in Chicagoland. The search continues and it’s been 10 years. The mediums here are smalls up there. Thin crust here also seems to mean thin toppings. Don’t bother with DJ’s. Get a frozen and you’ll beat that garbage.

What I will give Challengers is you do get cheese, but the sauce, at least to me lacks basil, oregano, garlic, and rosemary. Its probably canned as I dont see folks of this region making their own marinara. The sausage portion had me wishing I got a burger for needed protein.

This is my 15th place, and still searching.

In the area and made a last minute call in. The pizza was excellent with a generous amount of toppings, sauce and dough. Loved the product. Literally on the side of Hwy 72 just east of Gurley. Inside is really small with only one table, but it’s really clean with friendly staff and speedy service. Large sausage and cheese was $14.

Joe’s pizza was always the best place to get a muffalata, but Challengers is 10 xs better. It has a kick in the olive salad and is so good. Thank you and I am so glad you bought Joe’s pizza .

Good pizza, their a little heavy on the cheese(in my opinion), but what really stood out was the pizza sauce(tomato sauce) wow was it good and tasty and maybe a little tangy…in a good way, i couldve eaten a bowl of that tomato sauce lol crust was good and had a little crunch, awesome little hole in the wall restaurant with looked to be the whole family working it, definitely somewhere you want to spend your money, thank yall for feed us this afternoon

Anytime I venture out, my first search is availability of good pizza in the area! Yesterday, I visited North Alabama, and I stumbled upon Joe’s while heading to get pizza in Huntsville!

Well, I’m glad I stumbled, because it made my tummy happy, as well as saved me a few miles!

I like to judge pizza as much in how it tastes the next day as it does fresh out of the oven. If had to describe this pizza, I would say it’s what you’d expect as a homemade pizza, but perfected. I’m more of a wood fire pizza guy, but this was still delicious! The crust is delicious with a flaky, garlicy, buttery taste, and the cheese is thick and delicious!

The staff is polite, and the location is conveniently located right off the main road! Seating is limited both inside and outdoor, plus it was too hot to sit outside anyways! Just know that you’d probably use this more as a takeout, which is fine for us (more time to see the beautiful sites of North AL). I highly reccomend, and we will definitely be back when in North Alabama!

Great sandwiches, great pizza. Call in ahead and pick it up as there is very limited seating, 2 seats indoors and two benches outside. Either way it’s absolutely worth the wait and the trip.
