The Lobster is easily my favorite place to eat when I’m in Gloucester. In fact, there have been times I’ve gone back for dinner night after night during a stay. The staff is beyond friendly, delivering excellent service, great conversation and remembering your name when you return.
The menu is amazing — from fresh boiled lobster, to Grilled Chicken Piccata, New England clam chowder, and grilled chicken Caesar salad. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
The cocktails and locally sourced craft beers are great also.

What a marvelous and needed lobster and seafood restaurant on a working fishing pier on Rocky Neck in Gloucester! Had a magnificent and seeet lobster! Also, the swordfish, deconstructed lobster, lobster Mac n’Cheese, and lobster pot pie looked amazing! Service was excellent! We went in a snowy evening so we did not enjoy the fn water views! No trouble parking! Reservation recommended!

This Gloucester gem is worth the trip again and again.
Every visit delivers ultra-fresh seafood, often caught just hours earlier by their own fishing fleet. You might even catch a glimpse of the boats unloading right outside the restaurant it doesn’t get more direct than that.

The menu is stacked with standout dishes and drinks, all priced fairly and crafted with care. The space is spotless, from the dining room to the restrooms, and the staff bartenders and waitstaff alike go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

The food tastes as good as it looks, and the whole experience is a reminder of what great hospitality should feel like.
Put this spot on your regular rotation. It’s not just worth the trip it’s worth coming back for.

Everything was perfect! So glad we found this spot on a spontaneous road trip. The clam chowder was the best I’ve ever had. The lobster was almost too pretty to eat. Cooked to perfection. Loved the location and the ambience. Service was spectacular. I’m only sad I live in Delaware and can’t go when I want to.

Before our trip, I decided to look around to the places we wanted to visit while up in New England. We definitely wanted to come here because of the movie, the perfect storm being shot here. This was absolutely hands-down the best clam chowder anyone of us had ever eaten, and it was the first of our trip. After that any other clam chowder paled in comparison. The lobster roll was off the charts as was the haddock sandwich and the live steamed lobster. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. If I didn’t live in Florida, I’d be back there every week!

Went here on the final night of my 11-day trip to New England, and it was an amazing experience.

Best clam chowder I had all trip. Also, I ordered the Lobster Mac n’ Cheese, while my father got the Lobster Pot Pie. Both dishes were HUGE…full of lobster…and delicious.

Service was outstanding..from our waiter to the bartenders and also the young man that delivered our food to the table. We were even thanked by 5 different employees on the way out.

Lobster of Gloucester was a great way to wrap up an awesome New England vacation. Give them a try! You won’t regret it! But note, they don’t take reservations, so there may be a wait.

We were headed to the lighthouse and passed The Lobster of Gloucester. We were hungry on the way back and decided to stop in. We had just had “ok” lobster on our trip up to this point. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and the lobster roll. The dip was great but the lobster roll, WOW! It did not disappoint. There was so much lobster and the flavor was on point. The let you mix in your mayo so you get the lobster roll and you get to be in charge of dressing it. There is no need for anything. It was perfect the way it was. My husband and I split one but I will be getting my own next time. This is a must if you are in Gloucester. Make the drive to the lighthouse down the street. The houses are amazing to see and you can walk out onto the jetty. It is pretty amazing.

Best clam-forward stuffies I have ever eaten. Clam chowder was delicious with deep clam flavor. Fried clams crisp and light but very meaty. Thank you for a great lunch!

We randomly took a trip to Gloucester on Father’s Day and decided to try The Lobster of Gloucester. I hadn’t had a Lobster Roll since the weather warmed up, so I was really looking forward to it.

We didn’t have a reservation but arrived when the restaurant opened. We were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a half dozen oysters, a bowl of clam chowder, mussels, a lobster roll with warm butter, the fried clam platter, and a side of pasta salad.

The oysters were fresh and plump, served with a nice mignonette. The clam chowder was possibly one of the best I’ve had recently—thick, creamy, with a nice bacon flavor and plenty of clams. The mussels were large and meaty, cooked in an excellent white wine butter sauce. The fried clams were light, crispy, and well-seasoned.

The lobster roll was filled with plump, fresh lobster (not overstuffed), served on a butter-toasted brioche roll, with a side of warm butter. It was one of the top three lobster rolls I’ve ever had. The pasta salad was also very delicious—unlike your typical pasta salad.

Overall, everything was delicious. It’s clear they prioritize the quality of all their dishes. I only visit Gloucester once or twice a year, but I’ll definitely make this my go-to spot whenever I do.
