We walked into this restaurant on our rainy Saturday afternoon to be greeted by warmth, friendliness, and a very homey atmosphere. Kim quickly allowed us to choose a table, proceeded to serve drinks and make a very honest and bold recommendation. When asked, what’s the best thing on the menu? She said, if you close your eyes and point anything to the menu, you’ll land on a winner. Well, she wasn’t wrong! The three of us all had something different and everything was very tasty.

We started off with the smoothest baba ghanoush I’ve ever had in my life! It was dotted with a beautiful olive in the middle. The presentation was comparable to a lot of high end restaurants, but with Mom and pop prices.

We started with a greek salad and then I enjoyed the Chicken Scalappine and it was light, but satisfying.

After finishing off with some baklava, I perused the market items and found some “hard to find ingredients” for a Persian dish that I would like to make.

Although we were the only ones when we arrived, by the time we left two other tables had parties seated. Made me realize that I was late to the party on this hidden gem in Denton!

I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Green Zatar is truly a gem! The food was absolutely amazing, and you can really feel the love and care in everything they serve. It’s a lovely family-run business, and the hospitality makes the experience even more special.

The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and charming, beautifully decorated with so many Middle Eastern and Persian touches that make you feel right at home.

I tried the Bakhtiari and the gyro — both were among the highest quality I’ve ever had in the U.S. The flavors were authentic, perfectly balanced, and unforgettable.

Highly recommend whether you’re a local or just visiting Dallas. This place is a must-try!

Delicious food and beautiful quaint restaurant. Perfect for a family outing, date night, meeting up with a friend, or a work gathering. The owners work incredibly hard and their dedication shows. They are the nicest family you could ever meet. They really treat you like family when you are there. It’s a privilege to have this gem in Denton!

This quiet Mediterranean restaurant is a hidden gem. My husband and I LOVE to dine here. Everything we have ever had is delicious. Gyro, falafel, dolmas, Chicken Souvlaki. Such care goes into each dish.

Found this little gem by luck. I wanted some good Mediterranean food and everywhere I looked, Green Zatar kept popping up. It did not disappoint! First of all, I loved the decorations to this place. It was quiet, cozy, and very inviting. Customer service was excellent, food was filling and full of flavor. Pricing was good for their generous portions. A special thank you to Nadia who went above and beyond with her customer service. Thank you for your recommendations! Hope to come back soon!

The food was very delicious, fresh, and well prepared. The set up of the restaurant and the atmosphere was wonderful. Our waitress was nice but seemed to be in a rush to hang out on her phone . Overall we enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. We thought the entree prices were a bit steep for what we were getting compared to other local Mediterranean restaurants.

Food was amazing. My only request is that the portion of vegetables is slim to none but a ton of rice. I’d love to see them provide more vegetables with the chicken kebab entree.

The restaurant has a nice ambience, and the food was very tasty. We tried the Chicken Biryana and Chicken Souvlaki. My only criticism would be that I thought it was quite pricy for the amount of food received, compared to other larger restaurants. This is a mom and pop shop type of restaurant, so I would imagine it is more difficult for them to absorb the rising prices of meat.

Used to visit this place when I was a student at UNT 1997-2000. It used to be called International Foods then. Went back last week after 20+ years with my family and the food was as good as it was 20+ years ago. Even the owner who i used see in college days was still there albiet with a beautiful and graceful white beard now . Excellent food and friendly service. Clean and family friendly. Chicken souvlaki is my favorite and the falafels were one of the best i’ve had.

Very sweet, homey mom and pop type place. My expectations were exceeded with the quality of the food. Will definitely be back. Presentation was ok, but then as soon as you tasted the food, it was like wow…this is so good. The vegetarian platter was excellent. They also make a great tzatziki sauce! A byob spot
