Let me paint the vibe for you. It reminds me of being on the islands in Hawaii. The music choice makes the environment calm and nice. When I lived in Hawaii I would go by the water and get sushi and the owner there would play reggae and the ocean breeze would hit you in the face after getting a nice tan from the sun as you get crystallized by the the salt crystals from the ocean waves. Eating here brought back memories.
1st trip
This place is awesome. I got the bulgogi bento and a side of kimchi. My mother used to make this for me all the time. I would have ate more but the large beer got me too full. Everything was great. Service to food all 10/10. Cute girl works here too. It’s a Family business and a young man owns the place and family and friends help make this place what it is. I will support this place any day. New spot unlocked when I’m in Boise. See you next time.
2nd trip
I got the set lunch menu and a apocalypse ipa which I never tried before. The beer is actually really good. So I got 4 pieces of tuna and 2 pieces of eel and a Diablo roll. For the Apps I got the cucumber salad and miso soup. All good. Then there’s the poke. This was actually really good and the sesame oil mixed in with Masago, avacado and tuna was really tasty. Btw I believe the chef uses the really good part of the tuna for the poke. It’s the dark tuna and full of flavor. I always think I’m going to order more but I’m always full after. They give a lot of food for the amount you pay. I even ordered a small beer and I’m more full than the last time I came here. Will try something else next time. I changed up the orders but One thing that hasn’t changed is the girl is still cute. See you later on my third trip.

My Partner and I love Shogun, its honestly feels like a community coming in here, from the servers, chefs, and even customers it feels like a family. Joe (owner) and his staff are always so accommodating and the customer service from everyone is amazing. The sushi have excellent options and all taste unique. Sake have great choices. The dinner and lunch specials are perfect for two or one depending on how hungry you might be, and the price point is beyond fair. Cant recommend this place enough!

The restaurant was decorated very well, I love the atmosphere. I never had kimchi ramen before and I’m scared to eat it anywhere else because theirs was SO GOOD! The service was really attentive and came to check on us several times, but it didn’t feel like hovering. We came in towards closing but the staff all had smiles for us and they seemed genuinely happy to answer our questions.

1st time going here, to go order. Way over priced! It was over 50$ for 2 tiny rolls and a dinner salmon. The portion of salmon received was tiny as well. Which they put in the container with my cold salad. I would never go back. I left a good tip as well which I regret! Making it over 60$ for a to go order. Really disappointed.

This is our favorite local Japanese restaurant. The food is delicious. We usually get the salmon bake sushi — so good! My kids enjoy their tempura udon and Japanese-style fries. You need to go early because this place gets busy (and for good reason).

Came across this restaurant after my daughter suggested sushi for lunch. And what a pleasant surprise this was.
The food was delicious, the best Teriyaki chicken I’ve ever had. The Crunch Roll was divine, and appetizers (spring rolls and jalapeño poppers) were done with perfection.
The staff is genuinely caring and always in good spirits.
I must also add that the Teriyaki chicken comes with Miso soup.

It’s within walking distance of the Pilot travel plaza. The food smells & and tastes awesome! It’s the best sushi place I have found west of the Missouri river. I had the Eel. It was perfectly prepared.

Kudos to the staff for keeping things moving on a Valentine’s day Friday evening. Sushi was fresh and Ramen was good, although a bit salty for my taste. Seating is a bit tight, you are essentially elbow to elbow with your neighbour. Prices are reasonable.

Always been able to just walk-in and get a seat at the bar. Staff are very professional and friendly, actually kind of relaxing watching them prep the sushi. The food is fresh, especially the sushi of course, and the portions are good. The atmosphere is laid back, just not much seating other than the wrap around bar and a few tables as it is a very small place, which is to be expected for a sushi bar.

What a gem of a place! We were in town for an evening and were in the mood for sushi. This place was close and had gotten great reviews… and with good reason! Nice location, good signage, tasteful decor, mellow music, an excellent atmosphere. Sydney was our server, and she rocked We sat at the bar/counter and ordered all-you-can-eat sushi (see photo for front side of menu). The service was awesome, the chefs friendly, dishes came out fast, and wow… really, really good stuff! We’ll be back for sure the next time we’re in town. Just a great vibe and some tasty food… highly recommended, and deserving of five stars!
