Pros: we were seated quickly, no wait. Our waiter was nice and checked on us often, and the restaurant is decorated nicely. My daughter enjoyed her salad.
Cons: the music blaring from the the kitchen competing with the regular music playing in the restaurant was awful. The kitchen took a very long time for our food, which was fairly simple stuff, quesadilla, rice, tacos and a salad. The chips were a little on the done side.
A few tweeks to the back of the house operation and this restaurant could greatly improve itself.

Beautiful location with lots and lots of dining seating available and accommodations for all sizes of groups. New business opened as of beginning of 2022, visited on opening week (worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant) and have visited 4 times since (last visit on August 4th) and still is not good. The service is fast but not friendly at all, no hi or anything (very ackward), and their music is either off or very loud (even more ackward). The food is very on and off, one of the worst places to be like this (fajitas are the only best thing we’ve had here). Place is well kept and clean and parking lot on site with lots available. We gave them many chances and introduced family to Don Pablos and nobody has liked it as there are a lot of other Mexican restaurants to choose from and Don Pablo’s does not compare. DO NOT RECOMMEND for their food/service.. just for the look of the business.

I was not impressed with this place. When I arrived I had to wait for someone to seat me for 10 minutes. The place was empty! Let me also say, McDonald’s, we found all the salt missing from your fries! Every item of food was so salty we almost dehydrated. Hope you get better.

I read the past reviews before coming to this place and almost decided to not give it a chance. However , I told myself that sometimes you don’t judge by what you see or read and give the place a try. It did not disappoint. The host was very nice and our waiter always checked on us. Chips and salsa were very good as well. Low Prices on a lot of the dishes unless you want seafood. I assume the previous customers that have left a negative review on this place either have weak taste buds or come in when this place gets busy and are very impatient. Don’t judge based off reviews like I almost did. Go try it out! It’s good!

Originally we decided not to go to Don Pablo’s simply because of the number of bad reviews on both Google Maps and Facebook. Recently a friend gave a great review so we thought we would try it out since Mexican food is one of our favorites. The restaurant has been totally, and tastefully, remodeled from it’s previous Texas Steakhouse theme. And it is a large restaurant, possibly one of the largest in New Bern. It’s bright, clean and minimally decorated with some exceptional wall art.
We were promptly seated and the chips and salsa were delivered to our booth. I requested a hot salsa and a tomatillo based salsa was quickly delivered. The salsas were quite good and the chips fresh and crisp. We ordered a soft taco plate with refried beans and rice and the Don Pablo Enchilada plate which comes with black beans and fried plantains.
The food was brought to our table on heated plates after less than ten minutes. Other than the plate the only hot portions was the rice and the fried plantains. The other items were almost warm but definitely not the proper temperature to serve. Even the unseasoned, right-out-of-the-can, black beans were just beyond room temperature. Served in a ramekin and topped with cheese they looked good but that was it. The tacos were greasy and void of seasoning and did I mention a temperature issue? The enchiladas were good but not exceptional and again well below a good temperature profile. The fried plantains were cooked perfectly and were very good.
I had high hopes going in late this morning and was very impressed with the staff, the restaurant appearance and the way the food was served. And then we began to eat…..

We’ve heard so many mixed reviews so we tried it out ourselves. The place is huge. We were greeted upon our entrance and sat immediately. Each table was given chips and salsa. The salsa was full of flavor and the chips had a lime seasoning on them. We each ordered a drink from the bar and water to go with it. We never got our waters. The food came out fairly quick. My boyfriend asked for another drink when we received our food. He never got the drink until the end of the meal, along with our bill.
Our food was simply wonderful. The portions were fairly large. The place has a lot of potential. The only downside was the service from our waitress. (And I say that because everyone else was on point) She was nice, just not attentive. If you want a beverage with your meal, you’re better off sitting at the bar.

This Mexican Restaurant is remodeled with a modern dining area and bar. The staff if friendly and the food is excellent. Handicap parking is available and easy access. There is a bar inside and a small seating area outside. There is a kid menu. High chair are available.

We were on our way to Cerro Grande, but it was closed down. There was a banner that told us that they had moved down Martin Luther King, so we went to look and ended up at Don Pablo’s.
Walking through the restaurant, it looked more like a merger than a move. Don Pablo’s iconography was all over the place, but there were familiar Cerro Grande employees.
The food was pretty average. I had the ACP Texacano. It was alright, but it would have been improved by some vegetables, like onions and peppers. It was uninspiring.
I liked the chips and salsa. The rice was pretty good too. We will keep going on occasion.

Been wanting to try this place for months, but man, what a disappointment. Waited 5 minutes in the front to be seated while staff zipped around without even saying hello. Finally I just walked in the main part and asked if we just seat ourselves. Was told no, host would be with me shortly (no one else was waiting). Finally was sat. Ordered chicken chimichanga and a hard chicken taco. Waited about 20 minutes to get food. Food was pretty awful. The “salad” they serve with the main dish was brown and mushy, the black beans were watery and tasteless. The chicken tasted boiled and bland. The “hard” taco was mushy, tiny bit of cheese, and nasty lettuce. Service was ok, hence 2 stars. Oh and luckily I brought cash as they charge an additional 4% for any card transactions. Decor was beautiful, but I didn’t come for the visuals. Too many other places in this area that have much better tasting food.

Restaurant is beautiful on the inside but that’s all they have going for them. My order was wrong I ordered no guacamole and when my order came it had guacamole in my Taco Salad but as I was eating I may have taken. 3 to 4 bites I noticed a long black hair wrapped around the food on my fork and mind you my hair is blonde so I called the waitress over and explained everything to her so I told her to just bring me a taco and add sour cream well she brings me a side dish of nothing but sour cream but to top off all this off while I was drinking my tea what did I find on the rim of my glass another black hair well that just topped it off for me so this was first and my last trip!!!! And my daughter ordered a steak entree with mushrooms and the forgot the mushrooms and later brought them out in a side dish. This dining experience was a disappointment…
