Germaphobes: avoid this place at all costs! My mom was introduced to this restaurant a million years ago and likes to come every so often. We popped in around 2:45 a couple days ago and it was the oddest dining experience I’ve had in a long time. 30-45 minutes of anxiety. As soon as we walked in, we were seated and immediately the carts came over. Instead of allowing us a little bit of time to look at the menu, they just hovered over us, rushing us to tell them what we want. Note: I rarely go for dim sum, so I’m not familiar with the items like others who specifically come for this (like my mom – who felt rushed too).

We got 3 items from the cart (4 pieces each), sesame balls, and a plate of beef. How this came out to over $55 is still nuts to me. I absolutely don’t mind splurging on food, but this made no sense to me. The food was a 2-3/5 AT BEST. The beef was good, but super overpriced. They don’t offer water, only bottles from Costco that they charge almost $2 for. We ordered tea too, please look at my attached photo to see the absolute filth built up on their kettles.

The guests dining here were all talking with their mouths full, coughing, and sneezing all over the place. The carts are just sitting around, some of the items are not even covered and they have them placed in a section where they pile up all the dirty dishes from the table clean ups.

Question: how does this restaurant have an A?

Furthermore, when they brought us a box for leftovers, they placed the dirty checkbook/ tab INSIDE the box. Disaster. Never coming back!

I paid 400 dollars for dinner for 3. I got the house special lobster fried fish and BBQ pork. It was ok. The people that work there were pretty nice . That was the best part to be honest. I would do panda express next time.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. So I’ve dined here in the best of times, and the worst of times. They used to have a server that sang opera. One time there was a party going on, and she sang a bit, it was amazing. Another time my Aunt went to the restroom at closing, and she got locked in the restaurant. The staff came running back to let her out. They were very apologetic. I haven’t dined here in a while, so I thought I’d see what they have been up to lately.

This restaurant is like a lot of old school Chinese restaurants, a large banquet hall type room with lots of table seating. With the ability to arrange their seating in different configurations, they are able to accommodate just about any size party. There was no waiting, our party was seated immediately.

We were served a complementary starter of Wonton chips with dipping sauce. The chips were crispy, and tasty especially with the dipping sauce. We ordered Crispy Fried Cod Fish Fillet with Spicy Salt, Sweet and Sour Pork, Eggplant with Hot and Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Orange Beef. The Eggplant was the first dish to arrive. It was extremely hot, but perfectly cooked. It was slightly firm, but soft, as it cooled down it became even softer. The hot and spicy garlic sauce gave it a lot of flavor. The Sweet and Sour Pork looked great on arrival. It had nicely battered and crisp pork pieces that were tossed in a classic sweet and sour sauce, the flavor is what you would expect, delicious. The fish pieces were crispy, moist, and flaky, flavored with spicy salt, and garnished with green onions and jalapenos. As for the Orange Beef, this version features battered pieces of beef fried crisp, tossed in an extremely flavorful, and citrusy orange sauce. This is a dish we get here every time we come. We ended our meal with some Egg Yolk Buns. The bun is similar to a bread roll, but stuffed with a deliciously creamy egg custard, and topped with a sweet crumbly crust. The combination of textures is fantastic. It’s a not too sweet, thing to eat. The only issue is the fact that there is only bottled water. It’s not a deal breaker, but it is an issue.

Service here was very friendly, and all the dishes came out in a timely manner. We found out the woman who sang opera was still working there. She was serving us. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience.

Absolutely unacceptable customer service.
Today around 1:30–2:00 PM, the male cashier at the front was extremely rude and impatient. He made theinteraction, uncomfortable from start to finish.I don’t understand how someone with such a poor attitude is placed in a front-facing customer service role. Basic politeness and professionalism were completely missing.Very disappointing and honestly shocking.

We were part of the group of people who went out for dinner on Christmas day. We spoke with the waitress who has been there for over 20 years. They don’t mind being open because it’s another business day. We got there early because we had a feeling it was going to be busy. They were packed when we left and that was at 6pm. Our food came out in waves. The kitchen was very overwhelmed. The waitress said they had too many to go orders to keep up. Overall, the food was hot and plentiful. We ordered too many dishes. Nothing like Chinese leftovers. I know some of the customers after us were waiting a long time for their food. I just hope they understood how difficult it is to staff on a holiday. Patience or stay home. Orange chicken was tender but had a barbecue flavor we weren’t expecting. Beef chowfun. Deep fried Oysters. Crispy fried salted pork chop. Small order pork BBQ and Westlake beef soup. All good and filling.

Not too many places in the valley that serve dim sum especially in the carts that the servers push around the restaurant so this is our go to. Service is to be expected as not the best but like I said not many choices. They do have lots of options which is always a positive. Staff is not rude but not friendly either. You definitely need to get their attention vs them coming to check on you. They only serve bottled water no ice water for free!

It’s a larger restaurant so you can host a large party here.

Service was lacking by one staff member, but then I had great service from another gentleman that’s been working there almost as long as I’ve been eating there (26 years!)

Regardless…the FOOD is always delicious and the portion sizes are great. You won’t be disappointed in the variety. Feel free to ask for things not on the menu as well that they still make like chicken in garlic sauce.

UPDATE: We had Dim Sum on a Monday afternoon. Normally the service and the food is excellent. It wasn’t today. The shrimp and beef with rice noodle looked terrible. It must have been the last of them because they looked all torn up. I’ve never seen Dim Sum look so inedible. They should have never served that to us. They also tasted bland. When I tried to get a bill it took like 15 minutes to finally getting one. I even went up to the cashier to speed up the process but No one knew where the ticket was. Once I got the ticket I went up to pay bill. Instead of running my card right then they said they will bring it back to me, another 10 mins went by. They really didn’t seem too busy either, about 5 other tables. We’ve been coming here for many years I’m hoping this was an aberration.

We went on Mothers Day. Dine in was available and tables were socially spaced. The food was delicious, Kung Pao Chicken, house special squid and pork chops 5⭐. The Chow fun and walnut shrimp 4⭐. They served Costco bottled water instead of ice water in glasses, they charged $1.20 per bottle. The food came out a bit slow, they apologized and gave three complementary baked barbeque pork bows. We will definitely come back again.

This place is great for local dim sum. They have dim sum on a daily basis. Great selections and a variety of items. My all time favorite dish here is the house special lobster. They actually have a lobster tank. You get a fresh lobster marinated in that special sauce that I call heaven. Get ready to get your hands real dirty. It’s part of the whole experience. If you are celebrating a birthday and Lola happens to be working? You are in for a big surprise. She has a fantastic voice. Now go and have some lobster and thank me later.
