Review of Ruga’s Eatery & Lounge in Crescent Springs – Facebook
Reviews
I had a camembert, mozzarella and fig pizza – sublime. The sweet tang of the fig combined with the cheese and salty flavour was an excellent choice. Alan had the Prego chicken which he loved. The coffee was really good too.
A dirty ashtray from a previous table was left on ours and our menus were left on the table for the entire time we were there
The plate a burger was served on had 2 huge chips (breaks)
Pizza toppings were scant e.g. tiny bit of mince topping on every 2nd piece, three half cherry tomatoes
Great location, horrible experience and it’s not cheap
Bad things: The coffee and cappuccino we had were really not good. It tasted a wee bit rotten, although I drank the cold milk and there was nothing wrong with it, so it might be the water. Also, the seafood pizza had mussels on it that were inedible. They tasted like they were very close to toxic and left a terrible lingering aftertaste.
While we were there a chair collapsed in the sand sending an elderly lady tumbling to the ground, knocking her head.
Another patron got up from his chair and banged the side of his head against a sharp, broken tree branch that should really be sawed off before someone loses an eye.
And someone’s kids, for some unfathomable reason, were allowed to lie down in the middle of the path, where they played in the sand, obstructing absolutely everything, while making sand angels. Cute as it may be, I didn’t see them for the throng of people milling about, and I very nearly stepped on the face of a toddler whose skull would certainly have been crushed under my weight.
What a nice experience. The casual atmosphere and beautiful grounds make the wood fired pizzas seem even more tastey! Generally speaking, the pizza is well made and well priced.
Gourmet options like fig and bree, wagu beef and blue cheese pizza.
Banting and gluten free bases also available.
This restaurant is self service and there is a separate bar with basic beers and wine for sale too.
There is an exquisite private look out with only two tables. The Pizzarella look-out is quite possibly the best view of the Kenton-on-sea estuary.
