I’ve always driven by but this was my first time actually stopping, what a fantastic authentic Japanese sushi experience! The nigeri was very fresh with large servings, the gyoza were awesome, and the general selection of sushi was great considering the availability of fish in central MO. Definitely coming back! Pricing wasn’t cheap with how much we ordered, but I wouldn’t expect otherwise considering the quality and selection in the US.

Wonderful food and service. Best place in Rolla for sushi. Nice quiet atmosphere. Great selection. I do wish they offered more vegetarian options. Along with more bento style meals as well. We ordered takeout and the presentation was still great.
Owners seem like great people, from what we’ve heard. I believe they even grow some of the flowers used in decorating the meals.

Best sushi in Rolla! The owners are nice and flexible with modifying sushi as you wish! We always get take out but is nice to dine in too!

This restaurant is our weekly dinner-date “go to” restaurant in Rolla. When it comes to Japanese/Korean food, this restaurant is very high-quality, even if you consider it outside of the Rolla restaurant scenario. The place is run by a lovely Korean family, and you are often served by the owners themselves, who are very polite and dedicated to their family business. Prices are very fair, and the sushi fish is always very fresh and nicely prepared. The tempera rolls are also delicious and I bet you not going to find a match anywhere in town. Wife and I have been eating there for more than 2 years and we NEVER had any issues. I read some reviews here of fellas being annoyed by the time it took some of them to get their orders, or even to be seated. Personally, we never had any waiting and our food never takes long to be served. The only thing I can say is that it is a family-run business, so if you want chain-like, super-fast service, you can go to McDonald’s or the Waffle House. However, if you want delicious, carefully prepared sushi (in a quiet and relaxing environment), this is the place for you.

We were just passing through and wanted something healthy.
Had miso soup and Rangoons to start.
Chirashi, Alaska, spider, and salmon skin.
All as expected and filling. We’ll worth stopping in.

Excellent food, fine service, lovely decor and quiet when we were there. I had the Yakiniku Bulgogi and my friend had the Vegetable Tempura. Each came with Miso Soup, Salad and rice. Both were very good and well worth the price we paid.

The service was ok and the setting was peaceful which I appreciated. The waiter checked on us but seemed rushed which I didn’t mind personally. The place was pretty empty with only a few other diners at the time.
The food was the issue for me. It looked good visually but the taste was bland and I found myself adding a lot of soy sauce to boost the flavor. Compared to most sushi places I have been across the nation, it ranks pretty low for me on food and roll quality. My girlfriend and I were pretty disappointed since the reviews really got my hopes up.
It makes sense that the reviews are so high seeing that this is in Rolla which is sorta in the middle of no where. It is most likely the best option they have.
I’d still recommend it if in town since the other options may be limited, however don’t expect the quality found in the big cities. This is more on the level of the strip mall Chinese Restaurants.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while on the road. Fast and friendly service. The sushi lunch special was average, bento box lunch special was good. If ever back in the area I’d stop in again to try something else.

None of the other Rolla sushi places compare. This is our go to and we love it! Always fresh, beautifully prepared and presented.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Rolla! The lunch bento box is the best and quite a deal! The miso soup and ginger salad dressing are better than competing restaurants. My personal favorite is the spicy bulgogi. Staff is always super friendly and service is very quick. I love mottomo so much that I go almost weekly. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant!
Added 6.6.24. I almost hesitated to add a photo because I got this to go today and it doesn’t look as nice as when you order in the restaurant. This is spicy pork bulgogi. I had already eaten almost half so it’s big portions. Mottomo also has my favorite miso soup. I have tried to recreate it and failed. Instant is obviously not as good either. I devoted the soup and garden salad with ginger dressing before thinking to take a photo. Everything was excellent!!! Sadly they are only open for dinner now but so so good!
