I love Ethiopian food and some of the dishes here were good, but there are others that were just not as good as some of the other restaurants. I like the injera when it’s a little bit more sour, and this was a little bit under fermented for my taste. And maybe this was just the lunch menu, but it seemed like they didn’t have as much in the way of variety as some of the other restaurants. And there was only one combo, which was a veggie combo. It would be nice to be able to order a combination meal with both veggie and meat dishes. The service was great and the people were very friendly. There’s a market next-door, which has East African staples which is kind of fun to walk around in since I lived in East Africa for a few decades, but overall as an Ethiopian restaurant, I would say there’s some other places that I would probably prefer, if for no other reason than the larger variety of dishes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Exceptional!
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and beautifully put together. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect without ever feeling intrusive.
The food was the real highlight—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. Every dish tasted like it was made with love and skill. The presentation was gorgeous, and the portions were just right. You can tell the chef really cares about quality.
The service was quick, the prices were fair for the quality, and the overall experience was unforgettable. This is definitely a place I’ll come back to and recommend to everyone I know.
If you’re looking for delicious food, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere
this is the spot. Highly recommended!

The customer service here is the best every one came by to check on the white boy who was eating the spicy food. The Duro Wat was the best I have ever had tender and savory, after the first bite I inhaled the rest of the bowl. The Awaze Tibs were fresh and cooked perfectly and if I had any more room in my stomach I would have finished them off as well. 10/10 would recommend this place since I will be back for more

Ordered the kitfo special and alecha. Both were amazing. The Kitfo is beef tartare, but with a super savory, spicy taste. Soooo good! The Alecha was nice to cool off with… and the injera comes in great portions.
I’ve tried another Ethiopian place in Austin, and it was nowhere near this good. Will likely be ordering this a couple times a month now!

The food was super delicious! We had the yellow lentils and veggie platter and everything had so much flavor! The injera was especially delicious and we couldn’t get enough of it. The best part? You can buy some fresh injera or spices in the attached market.
We’re surprised it wasn’t busier than it was but it was nice to have a quiet meal 🙂

This place is authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It was fresh and had great flavor. My partner and I both had the Veggie Combo, which was good. The injera was very fresh. Added bonus they have Ethiopian beer and wine! It is attached to a mart, which also sells the Ethiopian beers which was good to know.

The food was amazing – the nicely sour spongy bread, curries and veggie dishes, and especially the traditional coffee.
The service felt like we were guests in their home, so warm and welcoming. The hostess served us coffee and popcorn in the traditional way, which felt like a performance. We sat in special space, immersed in incense and the smoke & smell of freshly roasted coffee, sitting on traditional stools and chatting after the meal. A very memorable experience!

I had an incredible dining experience at Megenagna Mart and Cafe. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was both friendly and attentive. The restaurant beautifully captures the richness of Ethiopian cuisine, coupled with the warmth of a traditional coffee ceremony. The relaxed atmosphere added to the inviting charm of the place.
