Playing Michael Jackson will always get my attention but I tried this spot for the first time due to being down here on a work trip. I had the super smokey sandwich and it was AMAZING, I’m not a reviewer but I had to go as far as calling and saying thank you and share my appreciation for patience with someone who was overwhelmed with the menu and delivering on the product! I’ll be hitting this again and hopefully you will too!

Best sandwiches I’ve had in Virginia by far, and it’s not even close. The ingredients are always super fresh, like the bread is incredibly soft, the vegetables are crisp, and the meat is high quality.
I don’t even know if they use a house-made mayonnaise or not, but paired with their ingredients, there’s something special about it. It’s run by a small handful of people, so it’s easy to get to know the staff, and they are always super chill and friendly.
I don’t know how many times I’ve been here over the past year of having discovered this place, but it is worth every penny! It feels impossible to find places that have corned beef sandwiches where the meat doesn’t taste rubbery and tasteless. I haven’t found anyone else in the state who does corned beef right like they do.

Great sub shops seem few and far between in the area, and The Deli was just what I was looking for. Reminds me of the sub places I had in NJ. So many great things about it, starting with the bread. Sturdy to hold up to a lot of filling, but chewy. The meat is sliced thin and fresh. Even the 8″ sub is a significant size.
I went with The Madd Italian and my wife had the Super Smokey. Biggest regret… The place isn’t closer by. Can’t wait to be back.

Top tier Italian cold cut sandwich. Fresh bread, thinly sliced meats, perfect proportions. This is probably the best Italian sub I’ve ever had. Awesome little shop. Feels like Jersey inside.

2 stars for the price and the small portions. I spent $50 on small (8″) sandwiches (doesn’t include Uber Eats fee or courier tip). Really surprised and disapppointed after reading the reviews about the large portion size. If it were the best sandwiches I ever ate, they would be worth $50. But they weren’t.

Awesome. When I first walked in what hit me was the smells I could tell this was going to be good. Spoke with the owner and tried the Italian Milano. Bread was so fresh and all the ingredients were delicious. Added some of the macaroni salad because why not and wasn’t disappointed. This is a must try place in the area, do yourself a favor. I will definitely be back!

I recently placed a catering order from The Deli, and I must say, the turkey sandwiches were absolutely delicious! The perfect blend of flavors and freshness. Additionally, the cookie brownies were a delightful treat. Excellent service and a great choice for any event. Highly recommend.

I was in the mood for an Italian sub and I happened to see that The Deli is nearby. I didn’t know that it was located at it’s current location as my husband frequented this establishment over the years when it was at its prior location. This was my first visit and it was great! Covid procedures are in place and when we went in to place our order, we happened to be there at the right time as it was not crowded. I ordered the “Mad Italian” with everything on it & my husband ordered the meatball sub with only cheese & sauce. While we were waiting on our sandwiches to be made, it was interesting to see some of the Italian products sold with vintage album covers gracing the wall above. We took our food to go and it was a good twelve minute drive back to our home. I was very pleased when I arrived home to see that my sub was intact as it was tightly wrapped in wax paper and butcher paper. Since I had everything on my sub which included mayo & oil & vinegar, their freshly baked Italian roll was thin but able to withstand the generous portion of cold cuts & vegetables. The roll did not fall apart which is a big plus in my book as nothing is worse when you are trying to eat a sub and the bread disintegrates upon the first few bites. At The Deli, Gabriella’s Italian Cookies (from Brooklyn, NY) are also sold. These cookies are always a delicious way to end a meal. There are multiple locations of this establishment in Washington D.C. and in Virginia. What a great local treat, we will definitely be back!
