Last night we went to The Standard for a birthday dinner with 11 of us. We opted to do the Chefs blind tasting menu. The food and service were exceptional. The management were fantastic at helping get this setup for our group. They had no issues accommodating a vegetarian in the group and another with a Scallop allergy.
Our server Ryan was knowledgeable and very attentive. His service was made our evening all that more enjoyable.
I have been to The Standard now a few times and last night was the best of the bunch.

Back for our second visit and had Ryan again for our server, he is absolutely amazing and adds to the experience. Ordered off the menu this time and enjoyed our evening just as much. We will definitely be back for Mother’s day brunch.
We did chef’s table tasting menu with wine and mixology pairing and it was absolutely perfect! Our servers were attentive and so informative. Food was amazing and the pairings were perfect! Will definitely be back to order and try food off the menu.

Ohhh wow, what a fun experience! My friend and I did the Chef’s Table as opposed to a regular sitting. It’s so cool being up close and personal with everything ‘behind the scenes’ and we were able to ask questions about what they were preparing. We got the mixology pairing and highly recommend it; we didn’t dislike a single drink! This felt like a less formal but still personal version of a tasting menu and I would suggest if that’s something you want to get into, start with here!

Had a fantastic pre-concert dinner at The Standard on a weekday and it absolutely delivered.
I ordered the picanha and my spouse had the paella — both were spot on. The picanha was cooked perfectly with great flavour and tenderness, and the paella was packed with flavour and done just right. No complaints, just really solid execution.
Location is a huge bonus — right downtown and literally steps away from TD Coliseum and FirstOntario Centre. Couldn’t ask for a more convenient spot before a show.
Great food, great timing, great experience. We’ll definitely be back.

The Standard is a fantastic and elegant dining experience. With a wide variety of unique appetizer options and equally appealing main courses, it is hard to choose just one item from each. However, with the guidance of my excellent bartender, Atakan, both the duck lollipops and the lamb tagine proved to be one of the most delicious meals I have had in a while. Bursting with flavor and texture, both meals seem to understand how to blend together visual artistry and taste. Fantastic restaurant and great service.

What a fantastic experience. It’s beautiful restaurant. Lots of really interesting breakfast menu items. I’m a bacon and eggs. Kind of person so that’s what I had but the menu was absolutely full. Check it out. The place is gorgeous and the the service is fantastic. My friend had a truffle mushroom breakfast with poached eggs on top. She absolutely loved it. I would recommend if you’re interested in a unique type of breakfast. Portions are a good size. What I did not take a picture of was these amazing buttermilk biscuits. They were absolutely scrumptious. I wish I remembered.

Came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. Excellent service from our server Jill all evening. She went above and beyond to ensure we had and liked what we had. Food was spectacular visually, and in taste. Can’t wait to come back and to also try their sister restaurant next door! I live in Toronto but I’m in Hamilton every other weekend and this restaurant is my new favorite in Hamilton!

The food here has a beautiful blending of flavours nuanced by its perfect balance. The chef has created a wonderful menu that will satisfy a multitude of cravings. Every customer will leave wanting more.
Ryan our server is what hospitality is about…from his own introduction to the highlighted feature (with pricing), Ryan was impeccable. His thoughtfulness was really the icing on the cake! Hot water was offered as a digestif for us — his table of Asian customers. Of course the standard dessert + coffee was offered but when we declined the coffee, he knew just what to suggest. And yes it was his recommendation. We left wholly satisfied and will be back again for their Belgian Ale event.
Atmosphere here got 3 stars due to the playlist. Too loungey for my taste. Doesn’t quite suit the ambience.

This was second time here, the first time for a large event but tonight we had dinner in the main area. The atmosphere is intimate and the service was spectacular from the moment we walked in the door. We had to wait a few minutes for our table to be flipped but the host was very welcoming and friendly. Our server Sarah and the rest of the staff were attentive and always made sure we were taken care of.
Our food took longer to come out than it normally would as our order ended up being put in after a large group. We weren’t upset as we were chatting while having a few drinks, but the management team went above and beyond, taking care of a few of our drinks. Truly a testament to their exceptional service.
It’s so difficult to find good service, good food and great atmosphere all in one place these days but tonight, The Standard truly delivered for us. Will definitely be coming back.
