A&W!!!!!! I drove out of my way to stop here because I love this chain. The store in spencer is no exception!!! The food here is amazing. It’s got the nostalgic feeling to it and the staff inside this location were super friendly!!!! Highly recommend the cheese curds, the cheeseburger, the double cheeseburger, the fries, the root beer float, the blackberry, ice cream and anything else on the menu!!!!!

Whoever worked the night shift on Sunday, February 15th, needs to be re-trained.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and ordered two chicken sandwiches, one with lettuce and one with mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce. We received two sandwiches, one with just mayonnaise and one with lettuce and mayonnaise. I hate mayo. Fantastic.
We also ordered two root beer floats, and not only did they taste like crap compared to Emmetsburg, but the person who made them filled them so full that the moment they handed them to us it they started bubbling over and created a big, sticky mess in the car we just cleaned. Fantastic.
When we received our incorrect order, we said “Thank you” and “Have a good night” loud enough that they could hear. They said nothing. Customer service was terrible. Fantastic.
The only thing that was correct was the corn dog nuggets and cheese curds, which I ate for my boyfriend because they messed up both our main meals. Fantastic.
Go to Emmetsburg where the food, customer service, and orders are actually correct. Thank you.

Always wonderful. Please be aware if you want diet root beer. It always comes with ice and make sure you hit ranch dressing or Papa’s for the cheese. Curds my husband accidentally just got extra papa sauce. They were nice and gave me my ranch dressing

I can only rate this location on their ice cream and cheese curds as that’s all we’ve ever ordered – both are 5 stars. This A&W makes the BEST ice cream cones! They’re always huge and their ice cream is actually creamy! It’s 10000x better than the Spirit Lake location.
The cheese curds are always hot and fresh. Highly recommend getting a side of spicy papa sauce.
The drive through is relatively quick, but can be difficult to navigate if the line is long. The staff are usually friendly. We have driven 20 minutes to get here just for the ice cream cones. Perfect place to stop on a hot summer day.

Hadn’t had A&W for a couple years. It was just as good as last time. A little spendy in my opinion but well worth it. Even had root beer floats.

Horrible horrible service!! They got my order wrong, when I asked for it to be made correctly, they tried making me pay extra for it! I said I’m not paying extra for your guys mess up. He then argued wirh me that they didnt mess up, it was just a miscommunication and that there was no way around it and i had to pay if i wanted it remade. I then said i wanted a full refund due to the service. He then refused to give me a receipt showing my credit back on my card. There were also 2 younger employees in the little room off to the side giggling and kept looking over at me. Definitely one of the top worse food services I’ve experienced!!

PROS: Food is great for being fast food and I’ve never really had a long wait atmosphere is ok(not there best location though) The younger part of the crew is definitely the best part of the crew.
CONS: The main female manager is the rudest woman I’ve ever met. Snotty remarks and no care for customer satisfaction and definitely will never admit to fault when mistakes are make which seems to be every time I go there. I had stopped going here for months because of these not stop mistakes and I go back today for yet another mistake and her being absolutely rude. Remarking someone as unintelligent because they asked for something off a burger is just mind blowing.

I grew up in the Hay Days of A&W drive-in.We were ( all 70’s) were disappointed in the food flavor and the atmosphere. We were there on our vacation and will never be there again.
