Tried the diner spot in downtown Smithfield for the first time after seeing a post about them. The food and prices were great, but the service was underwhelming. I ordered to-go and had to ask for a bag while everyone else already had one. No one checked that my order was complete, and I didn’t get my drink until I asked. I stood there for a couple of minutes waiting to be acknowledged while the lady, who I assume is one of the owners, talked with regulars. First impressions matter and everyone should receive the same level of service. Afterward I looked through the reviews and noticed a few others mentioning similar service issues, from people of color, which was disappointing to see

I couldnt pass checking this spot out while working close to Downtown Smithfield. Lots of food options on the menu but also check out the daily specials. I wasnt able to try it, but I was told the smoked beef brisket thursday daily special was worth making a special trip back out! Very nice staff and great small town downtown location! Go check it out!

We stopped by this restaurant today to see what Smithfield had to offer for breakfast, hoping for a good experience but unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. The food was actually really good, which makes this even more disappointing. The owner racially profiled us from the moment we walked in. It was obvious that she does not welcome Hispanics or people of color. Her attitude was unwelcoming and unfriendly the entire time.
As a Hispanic person, I find it shameful that in this day and age, people still act this way especially when we’re all paying customers like anyone else. If you don’t want people of color in your business, maybe you shouldn’t have one open to the public.
Also, just a heads-up to others: they charge for every drink no free refills.
