Big Axe Brewing is a really nice small brewery in Nisswa MN. They had 11 of their beers on tap plus seltzers on my stop. Beers included: pilsner, blonde ale, cream ale, tropical sour, Irish red ale, oktoberfest, chocolate oatmeal stout, barrel aged Mexican chocolate stout, IPA, hazy IPA, and a milkshake IPA. Everything I tried was really solid to above average. They rotate beers very regularly with a fun variety of styles.

The service was really friendly. They run several specials and have trivia on Wednesdays. They have a kitchen with sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and salads. I enjoyed my time and would definitely stop again.

Big Axe Brewing is one of our go-to spots in Nisswa—year-round. The beers are great, the food never disappoints (highly recommend the wings), and the atmosphere just feels like Nisswa. During the summer, the live music out on the patio is always a good time, and it’s a perfect spot to take in downtown.

They’ve got solid lunch options, weekly dinner specials, and they host fun events throughout the year. We’ve spent plenty of afternoons just hanging out on the patio, soaking up that lake life. The owner and staff are always friendly and make you feel right at home. Definitely one of our favorite spots in town.

Great experience! I’m honestly not sure how they only have a 4.3. The drinks and food were great, attentive staff and the atmosphere was fun! They even had live music! My only regret was not getting the apple crisp for dessert. I was too full, but I’ll be back to try it. The table next to us has some and it looked so good!

Saturday afternoon after Labor Day and barely found a table on the deck for lunch. Ordered lunch and root beer inside and watched until a table opened up and jumped on it. I had the Nisswa Chicken Strips, which is listed as an appetizer but was more than large enough for a meal, the chicken strips were large enough that I had to give the third one to the hubby to finish, lots of fries too, very generous portions. Hubby had one of the burgers and fries and said it was good. The servings of root beer were small, maybe an 8oz glass? Definitely smaller than a can of soda, and didn’t seem anything special, next time I’ll just do a can of soda.

I didn’t try any food at this brewery, but they have a cozy taproom split in 2 sections. There is also a large outdoor patio. 13 beers on tap with 4 as IPA, 4 dark and 4 light. One sour. There is also rootbeer and cream soda on tap. To go beer! Merch. It’s a place to stop when some of the family wants to shop downtown Nisswa.

We pass this place 4x per year and finally got to stop here. Great beers and greag food, especially if you’re in the area. Portions are modest yet delicious and come out quick. Everything is order at the counter and the staff was friendly and attentive. This whole town has a beach town vibe which I love. 10/10 will come back. Great lunch spot!!

This is the third time I’ve stopped in and I always love the atmosphere! The staff is super friendly and the drinks are good! I’m not a beer drinker and I love that they have other options! I got the cherry almond smoothie sour and the raspberry creamsicle seltzer and they were so good! The smoothie is kind of filling too!

Excellent quality beer and selection. Nice patio and ambiance. The reason for the 3 star review was that the service was terrible. We sat for over 10 minutes before I had to go find a server. Once our order was taken, it took another 20 minutes to get drinks. I actually had to go to the bar and get our beers (which by the time I got them, were partially warm because they were sitting so long). The bartender appeared to be keeping up, but the servers were not. Perhaps they were short staffed, but what really teed me off was when I witnessed our server sitting down for a meal without first bringing us ours and our drinks. Everyone is entitled to a break, but I felt this was ridiculous, particularly when I had to get our own beers, had to ask multiple times for all of our drinks (no kids drinks came), and ask for salad dressing (none came with the salad). Overall, the beer and food were excellent, but the service was lacking significantly.

The place is nice and has a good selection of beer and food for the area. However, they need to invest in Spotify premium or an alternative source of music. 2 songs 2 ads, 2 songs 2 ads… very strange.

When you are at a restaurant you don’t need to be hearing an add 6-8X about a pill to help your the bowel movements.

We were delighted to enjoy beer flights, nachos, and wings with our family. Everyone at the brewery was friendly. The food came quickly, which is great with little kids. We enjoyed every beer we tried! We will definitely be back the next time we visit!
