Third time eating at clays it’s absolutely delicious I tried a little bit of everything. The owner,Jack told us that the berry syrup for the pancakes is his mom’s old recipe it was really good on top of those pancakes. The sausage gravy was amazing I always try different gravy at different restaurants and this one is up there at the top very flavorful. The bread pudding is soo good, every other bread pudding I’ve tried i wasn’t a fan of this bread pudding is the best I’ve had. I’m excited to try the rhubarb strawberry pie it looks yummy definitely gonna eat it with a spoon. The crust on the pie is homemade too.

I don’t live there I’m just passing through…. the reviews I’m assuming are from friend’s of the establishment. I wasn’t impressed with any of it from walking through the door. Over priced on everything. The soup had good flavor but the beans needed to soak longer to get softer. The place is outdated for the prices there asking. My bowl of soup looked like they got it out if the dirty dishes compared to the other’s bowl of soup. My first time here and ill go out of my way to go to another place before thinking of going back to this place…..

05/29/2022.. I saw this place on google maps and wanted to try it out. I got the 6 piece Perch fish plate with baked potato and green beans.

When I got there I received a warm greeting inside the restaurant.

It is the first time trying Perch fish and I loved it. Buttery and full of flavor. Also, the fish was fresh!!

I greatly appreciate. I will try to come by again soon. Thank you so much

Haven’t eaten here for a few years, but tried it for lunch- delicious! Good fish sandwich, my wife had the BLT, and we split the onion rings, which are homemade and outstanding! We also split a piece of home made coconut cream pie – very good.

Apparently the owners of many years are back in charge… all for the better. They’re Closed Monday- Wednesday… just note their hours.

So glad to see them doing well.

Stopped in here after visiting Clear Lake for swimming.
It was an afternoon lunch simple BLT’s with fries and a salad.
Our food was good because as simple as a BLT goes it was the bacon that made the BANG for the buck~!
Our waitress must have been new,…but overall it was a nice lunch before headin back to Angola.
Great quaint little family restaurant.

We stopped here to eat with family. The waitress kept forgetting us when we asked her to do something. She never came back to tell us about any pies they have when we asked her. One of our patty melts was way under cooked and we had to send it back. We waited over 20 more minutes to get it back and the place was not that busy. I would not recommend eating here, but if you do, I hope your experience is better than ours was.

Cute little diner with a plentiful breakfast buffet. We had eggs, bacon, french toast, american biscuits and some pancakes. They also had quiche which tasted amazing. The service ladies were really lovely and we felt welcome. That‘s why we returned for a BLT with housemade fries – definitely recommend!

If you’re in Fremont and want to enjoy a good homemade meal, you need to stop by Clay’s Family Restaurant! We received a warm welcome from the owner, Jack, and his wife Marilyn as soon as we walked in, and immediately felt right at home. Our waiter, Rick, was friendly and provided great service! The menu was full of good choices, making it difficult to decide! We enjoyed the selections on the salad bar, and the soups were exactly what would be expected when you hear the words “they’re homemade”! My BLT was exceptional and the onion rings were homemade, something that’s getting harder to find. If you like pies, you’re in for a treat! With so many to choose from making up our minds was difficult, but we definitely enjoyed the Dutch Apple and Rhubarb.
On a side note, the restrooms were exceptionally clean.

Thanks Jack, Marilyn and Rick!
