I love these types of places! I was not planning to order food but I went in to get an iced tea and the friendly woman at the counter changed my mind. I got the Cubano sandwich (listed as a special). It was on a pressed/toasted sub roll and had ham, cheese, pulled pork bbq, spicy mustard, and pickles. It came with extra pickles and a bag of chips. I really liked the bbq and would definitely eat here again. Don’t be fooled by the appearance. It looked a bit closed down/empty and had very few customers. I figured even if the food wasn’t great and I like supporting local and unique spots. So I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor. There’s seating inside and some tables outside. They have a variety of coffee drinks and also serve ice cream. There aren’t really any souvenirs- just a few local jams or honey I think and some bags of chips. I do wish they offered more local products for sale, like some art or jewelry would be perfect. Oh, I saw a mother bear and a cub crossing the road nearby so it’s also a pretty drive around the cafe but definitely be on the lookout for wildlife!

Over the last few years, I know that we drove or rode by several times and the reason I believe that we never stopped was that the impression was the place is not open. The reason why is the huge but very old sign right at Highway 11 in front of the building makes it look like they are closed.
To the business owner : maybe it would help if you would have an open sign right at the road and maybe even give potential customers a heads up a mile down the road in each direction saying that your place is coming up and it is open because otherwise like what we did for years people drive by see your place in the last second and the first impression is you are not open.
I do know from the experience we had today that you have an open sign on the actual building but again if people drive by on highway 11 with 45 or 55 miles they do not have a chance to see this sign.
This was just the introduction lol.
Anyhow. So we did stop today and there’s plenty of parking in the front.
This is truly a little gem when you take a minute to look at the building from the outside and when you walk inside, you will get that impression even more. There’s ample seating outside and also downstairs inside and there’s also seating upstairs.
Since it was already after lunch, we decided to just try the pumpkin cake and a frozen coffee. Everything was great and very reasonable priced.
We were sitting in one of these adorable booths that all have different Looks and configurations. See pictures. This is true country wood craftsmanship.
Service was super friendly too.
The location is top-notch because there is not a whole lot close to it. They also have ice cream and barbecue style food items that we didn’t have a chance to try this time.

I have driven by this place a dozen times and either thought it was closed or it looked kind of rundown and I just paid no attention. Today my family and I needed a place to eat and Aunt Sue‘s kitchen up the road was busy so we tried this out. We were very pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. The atmosphere inside is very clean and tastefully rustic decor. My wife and I both got club sandwiches which were made with REAL sliced turkey breast, real cheese and fresh lettuce and tomato. They were delicious! Our boys got the Cubano sandwich and the pulled pork plate and they loved every bite! No complaints… We will definitely return!
Note- get some pumpkin fudge on your way out!
To the owners: if you freshened up your big sign and put an open sign out by the road, I think you would catch peoples eye and get them inside!

This is a great place to stop for some ice cream! We had the waffle cone with pumpkin spice latte ice cream and it was delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the large porch outside with lots of seating. We were there during the daytime but I am sure at night it is nice with all the string lights on the porch. Prices were very good for the quality of ice cream. The property also has a life size pumpkin out by the road that you can walk in to take pictures. They do have food options and coffee drinks as well.

I want to score this a 5 because it is a sweet place and has so much potential. The food was fresh & delicious (small rotating menu). The building is quaint and has SO much potential. The owners, who built the place, were on-site working and were pleasant. From speaking with them, it sounds like this was something to behold in the past. It makes me feel a little sad to have missed what it once was.

This place doesn’t look like much on the outside and to be honest we were a little worried.
We went in to check it out and decided to give it a try.
We had a BBQ sandwich, salad and smoked chicken wings (special of the day). The BBQ sandwich and salad were delish. The wings were okay but didn’t taste smoked.
It was a nice day so we sat outside and enjoyed the weather.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
