I’m going to stop here so you can read that again
Never have I ever seen Baklava cheesecake available on a menu. This is currently a seasonal item but I really hope they make it a standard item
I recently moved to surprise so now I’m learning and eating my way through my new neighborhood
Small, local and family owned this place made my heart smile
The servers and bartenders know their customers by name and they also know their usual orders
The back and forth banter as we sat next to a couple and the husband was trying a new sandwich made me giggle
I got the chop salad and I was pretty excited about it as I only know one other restaurant that serves it
The salmon chop salad was wonderful and a great order if you’re looking for something light and delicious
We also got the Mediterranean chicken wrap. Great flavor and the pita bread was wonderful
We also ordered fries although they were so yummy we devoured them before I got a picture (rookie mistake) but since I plan on going back I’ll send an update
We didn’t get any cocktails but they looked really good
You all know I’m a sucker for an espresso martini and I was informed this place makes a mean one
Let me close by again reminding you that they have baklava cheesecake
You could go and just order this while doing a happy dance
The hostess was great, she was actually dealing with someone who kept complaining about the lack of booth space which obviously wasn’t her fault. She remained professional and smiled through the interaction. She was honestly the highlight of the visit.
I kept seeing reviews about good service and again, maybe it was an off night but our server maybe said 10 words to us. She didn’t get my husband a refill and it took about 15 minutes of waiting to even see her so we could ask for the check.
The man working the bar did come over twice to our table, refilled our soda and asked if we needed anything. He looked super busy but we appreciated that.
For food, we ordered the goat cheese balks and those were delicious like the reviews say.
I got the Italian sandwich and my husband got the steak and frites. My sandwich was lukewarm and neither of our fries were rosemary fries which is what the menu stated they would be. That threw us off, they also didn’t have salt and again, lukewarm. His steak was cooked great and was hot.
We chose to have desert elsewhere as it just wasn’t what we expected.
Okay, I have to admit, we ordered three desserts! Coconut Creme Pie, Limoncello Tiramisu, and Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding. All three were amazing. My favorite though was the bread pudding. We took some of the food home.
The ambiance was really nice but relaxed. It felt like a cozy bistro. Sean was amazing! He answered all our questions, told us about the dishes and what made them so good, and brought everything out quickly.
Jameen is visiting from California but we’ll definitely be back. I’m looking forward to trying more cocktails.
What am amazing team!
We went on a busy Saturday night when it was super hectic and it would’ve been easy to turn us away, but we received nothing but absolute courteous treatment and service as the staff was so kind during our wait for a table and even brought us complementary drinks.
The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere really inviting and cozy but the service stood out among all of this and set this place apart. We definitely will be coming back.!!
We ordered fried calamari 4.5/5, Cubano sandwich 4/5, Greek salad 4/5, side if rosemary fries 4.5/5, and baklava cheesecake 4.5/5.
Reasonably priced wines. Full bar.
The culinary experience at The Toast is nothing short of fantastic. We indulged in the FRIED GOAT CHEESE BALLS, an exquisite appetizer drizzled with Truffle honey and sprinkled with chopped pistachios—a delight when accompanied by a glass of deep red wine. The CUBANO sandwich, with its tender shredded green chili pork and perfectly paired accompaniments, alongside thin rosemary French fries served in a quaint fry basket, was a standout. The CHOP salad was another highlight, a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients and flavors that left us thoroughly impressed.
However, the dining experience wasn’t without a couple of slight flaws. The two-top tables felt a tad too close, compromising privacy and comfort. A greater variety of seating options could enhance the overall ambiance. Additionally, the pricing of the goat cheese balls seemed disproportionate compared to the value of other menu items. Service-wise, our server could have been more attentive with water refills, a small detail that didn’t go unnoticed.
Despite these minor critiques, The Toast Craft Kitchen & Cocktails left a lasting impression. The exceptional food, lovely interior and welcoming atmosphere make it a must-visit in Surprise.
We ordered the tahini cauliflower – I enjoyed it, hubby did not. For our entrees I had the prime rib tacos which were AWESOME.
For the bad news… he had the pork chop – and that was a rough experience. It was SO TOUGH he needed a steak knife. The cut was very fatty. The cook on the pork was so puzzling since they said they sous vided. It was pink but full of hard fat nodes and tough. He did enjoy the sides – even though his entire dish was cold by the time it got to him. (Yes, I did tell him to send it back but he was afraid he would have the same experience if he asked for another attempt).
We finished with the baklava cheesecake which was fabulous. We might be back – but won’t be ordering the pork chop.
