Terrible! $13 bucks a meal and this is what you get. Its never been the same since it was sold. This is chicago style! more like sad style we wont be returning.

Ordered gyros with the meat extra crispy some time ago. Got the meat not even slightly crispy. Went in today and specifically said gyros with the meat extra extra crispy. Got home and the meat again was not even slightly crispy. Don’t know if the cook understands or is in a hurry. It’s like ordering a steak well done to get it rare. No wonder no one goes there anymore

Used to come here every so often the past three years…however the last two times we have been here the fries are as if they are old. They are well done and fried so much or rewarmed and hard as a rock by the time we get home (we only live 2-3min away so not a far drive.) The other food was fine beaides the gyro sandwhich wrapper being ripped before pulling it out of the food bag.. minus that main food was okay this time.. last time everything just didn’t taste like the quality from the past experiences at this establishment… not sure if it has to do with the time of day you go but both times I went were different once during the day once at 530 pm…. not sure but don’t know if we will be back here.

Finally stopped in the famed hot dog stand a couple of weeks ago after a long hiatus. Lived in RL from May ’89-Nov ’02 which is when I was in & out of this place along with a few other RL area favs.
Not just hot dogs but their overall menu has always been awesome. Good prices, friendly service and tasty quality eats will keep you coming back to this wonder.
Been living in Beach Park for nearly the last 19 years so unfortunately I usually end up some place much closer when in the mood for a Chicago grill. Been at least a couple of years since I’ve been to Scotty’s, though.
After biting into that dog & fries automatically it brought me back in time. Gonna try to make it out here a bit more often ’cause I definitely miss this taste!

Tasty famous little place. Ordered gyros and hot dogs “dragged through the garden.” Food was fresh and good. Small place for carry out. Clean and decorative.

I grew up on Beach View Dr., right next door to Scotty’s, and have so many memories of eating here over the years. That’s why it was so disappointing to return after 5 years and have such a bad experience. I ordered 3 Chicago hot dogs and a burger and paid almost $60—way too much for what I got. The hot dogs were soggy, and the buns were soaking wet. They were so gross, I only let my child eat the sausage.
Scotty’s just isn’t what it used to be. The quality has gone way down, and it’s clear the care and service aren’t there anymore. I’m honestly glad I didn’t leave a tip that day because the person working didn’t deserve it. After all the memories I had here, this visit left me disappointed. If things don’t improve, I can see this place closing soon.

We’ve been buying Scotty’s food since 1973. The hot dogs were out of this world and they wrap the fries with the hot dogs. However, the original owners sold the hot dog stand recently and now the hot dogs have no taste. Oh, and if you want a really bad tamale, be sure to buy one at Scotty’s. The former owner, Mark, would not have sold this.

Pretty good and fast. Live right down the street. ordered two gyros for me and mom was ready in 5 minutes. Hot and tasty. A little pricey but that’s due to Inflation so. Will definitely order again.
