Was craving some good katsu curry. The curry itself was great the chicken was really tuff and chewy which was a first for me. If they fix the chicken would definitely give it a 4/5

If you love Japanese Curry, this is a must try!
The udon here is good as well.
Curry is beef-based so you can just get it plain with rice but adding chicken katsu is always a great way to elevate it! My tip is to tell them to keep the chicken katsu on a separate plate or on the side to avoid it being soggy as I eat. There’s no spice level and it’s non-spicy. The only thing I wish they would have would be option to add cheese and corn on the curry like how Zen in vegas has it.
The price is a bit high but the portion reflects it. I can usually make 2 meals out of one order so nothing to complain about.
It’s inside the Asiana food hall so it’s a quiet place. Since the food hall is smaller and less popular than H-mart down the street, it can be ideal of big groups. Just need to watch noise level if you come with a big group.

Amazing range of choices in the fun vibe Asian food court. Recommend spicy tonkatsu ramen bowl! Multiple choices at other restaurants in the shared food court.

Omatase Japanese Kitchen is a taste of home. Being from the South Bay in LA I have been missing authentic Japanese food! This is the first curry udon I have found in the valley and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed our roll and tempura udon as well. The menu is expansive and you can tell they put a lot of care and love into their dishes.
The owner is very kind and shared that they moved here from Torrance. It is always so special to connect with people who are from the same area I am from. I can’t wait to come back!

It’s a warm and welcoming spot tucked inside an Asian market. The standout feature is definitely the fresh produce—it feels like everything starts from that quality. The ramen is light and satisfying, the curry was rich and flavorful, and the sushi was impressively fresh. On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive, which really added to the experience.

Omatase Japanese Kitchen is one of my favorite Japanese restaurant in the valley. The curry is rich, perfectly spiced, and had a comforting depth of flavor that made every bite delightful. The staff are friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this spot to anyone craving authentic Japanese curry.
Update: the sushi is fantastic as well, fresh and high quality.

Been here twice now, had both the Chicken and Pork Katsu Curry. The curry is the best I have had in AZ, and compares equally to what I ate in Japan. It’s rich, has depth, and very generous portions. Oishikatta desu!

I’ve been here 3 times so far and each time has been 10/10 experience. The food, staff and prices are amazing!
Today I got the Kobe Donburi and was compelled to finally write a review. The assorted shashimi pieces were generously thick and the rich in flavor. Each dish I’ve had has been a similar experience. Amazing flavor and price! I look forward to my next visit.

Came here with my bf who has been raving about this place for weeks. I got a Hawaii Donburi rice bowl and it was honestly a 10/10, very filling and great quality sashimi. The owners are incredibly sweet and welcoming, as was the rest of the staff. I’ll be dreaming about that sushi bowl until the next time!

My 7-year-old son loved his plain udon, which came with the cutest Hello Kitty kamaboko, seaweed, tofu, and tasty sides of potato salad and pickled cucumbers. My husband and I ordered the vegetable tempura and pork katsu curry with a side salad. The tempura was perfectly crisp, and the tsuyu dipping sauce was amazing! The curry flavor reminded us of the delicious Japanese food we used to enjoy in the South Bay.
The owners are incredibly sweet and welcoming, they even gave our son a little rice cracker treat just because. We’re so grateful to have this kind of authentic, comforting Japanese food here in Mesa. Thank you, Omatase, for sharing your wonderful food and kindness with the community!
