Wife and I had some business in downtown Los Angeles, called an old friend to have lunch, he recommended this great family restaurant. Not gonna lie the area interesting, but what I will say it was so worth it. The food was amazing we or they ordered for us 5 different dishes and there was not one that didn’t have your mouth watering for more. I had the deep fried snapped deep fried and served over veggies. Wife had a breaded steak, also ordered was a fried rice so tasty, deep fried breaded chicken in garlic, a breaded chicken. They called it a salad, but it was onions tomato and avocado drenched in vinegar pepper and lemons juice, fresh lemons provided. The service was excellent. Bring your bottle of wine to dine with. Yes we will be back well worth it.

I had the white fish in creole sauce with some tostones. Everything was perfect. Area is a little sketchy; but it’s like a whole in the wall. Definitely saving this to my favorites!

El Colmao is perfect for what it is — an old fashioned Cuban restaurant serving delicious basics just like abuelita used to make. If you’re looking for haute cuisine in a high end restaurant, pick someplace else. But for awesome palomilla, ropa vieja, soups, maduros/tostones, arroz y frijoles, and flan — El Colmao cannot be beat.

The arroz con pollo was inedible soupy mixture and the palomilla steak was just “OK”. The Cuban sandwich was sans mustard. Pretty sure we were the only Cubans in the place. Nothing like Cuban food in Miami. Was very disappointed. The staff were very nice though.

I have heard good reviews of this place so today was the first time to try it and it was delicious. I didn’t know what to get so the waiter suggested grill chicken with rice, beans and to drink I got a strawberry lemonade. The food was delicious and for dessert I got a tasty flan so good. I would recommend this place.

This is an authentic Cuban restaurant. I felt like I was back in Miami when I walked in. Some of the best Cuban food I’ve had on the west coast.

Great food and service at a reasonable price. Parking is a little challenging, have money for meters, if driving, as a backup.
