It was just “ok” for me. I’ve been to The Yard in other cities and I guess I expected that same service/experience and this location fell short of that.
Service was slow. It didn’t seem busy either. Not sure what was going on. The female host looked frumpy. She was wearing a long sleeve shirt, half on, half off. Home fries were kinda cold. Prob sat under a heat lamp or something. Probably wasn’t temped for a while. The chicken and waffles was pretty good though. Definitely recommend for brunch. The chicken gravy was decent. Def added a touch to the dish.
If I could have given it 0 I would have. They did not even toast the sandwich bread. My friend completely returned her sandwich. The bread was stale and the inside was burnt. Don’t believe me judge for yourself
Update : The Yard management staff sent me a 20.00 gift card to make up for the terrible meal. It was about 29% of the bill… It was so generous of them… I might go back but I’d rather them close and a better replacement restaurant take their place. May capitalism make their closing quick…
UPDATE #2 The owner reached out to me via my email I sent the corporate email.
He did apologize for the meal and offered a real refund of 100% of my meal plus he said we could keep the gift card. Updated my review to 2 stars as the owner reached out.
When I return for another meal, I will write a separate review for that.
Overall the Owner did the right thing.
This time I opted for the poutine. Be prepared for a LOT of cheese. For once I actually couldn’t finish the dish because there was (and I can’t believe I’m going to say this) too much cheese.
But it was delish!
