40 votes, 38 comments. Got the Margherita slice. I would call it more of a cheese slice with basil and a little fresh mozzarella.

No need to travel to New York if the pizza there is as good as it is here. And the slices served are huge! Starting at just $3, it’s a great bargain. Garlic knot was good, too, and comes free with every pizza slice. Preferring the standard cheese and pepperoni, I might try the Mac & Cheese, Coney Island or BBQ Chicken when I get here next. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Wonder if he’s still that way at 3am when they close.

Could have been the mood I was in, but this was an experience! The pizza was exquisite, the staff polite, and prompt. I would guess it was the owner gave both my girlfriend and I a delicious homemade canolli just because it was our first time: heaven!!! And they have this program called pay it forward where you can donate money, a post-it note goes up on a board and when someone is short on cash, can ask for payment off the board, that made me smile.definitely going back. I live almost 2 hours away and was only there by chance.

Good pizza NY style pizza by the slice. Really affordable lunch option, naughty snack, or quick dinner. I’ve never done it, but they also deliver whole pies.
Update: This place has been shut down by the fire department. There is also a Facebook group of past employees where they can share abuse stories. Evidently the owner likes to not pay his staff, among other things. Knocking down my score by 1 star til both issues have been resolved.

I’ve witnessed numerous accounts of the owner just being rude from denying me my own pizza to arguing with other customers. The pizza is okay, but my friends and I once found a fly in the salt shaker, and mold in the parmesean cheese on a different day. Honestly I don’t suggest ever going here, because the customer should always come first and the service is really poor.

I ordered margarita pizza, and it was dripping wet with oil. I called slice of new York pizza to let them know that it was wet with oil and disgusting and I had wasted $20. The only thing they cared about was not having to refund me. The manager on duty tried to tell me that the margarita pizza is made like that, to drip with oil. I’ve tasted margarita pizza at infusinos a couple of times and it was delicious and not dripping with oil.
This was my first and last time ordering from them. The customer service was horrible; their attitudes were horrible and I didn’t even give them attitude until they got one with me for letting them know how the pizza was. I thought I was helping them out.

I stop by maybe every 3 weeks. I love having a couple warm slices in minutes. Usually try something i wouldn’t order from a whole pizza and grab something i know I’ll like. NEVER had a bad slice.

I came to a Slice of NY with great expectations of NY Style pizza being from Philadelphia, PA and growing up on NY style pizza all my life. This pizza was OK by my tastes and I have searched far and wide for good NY pizza. I liked their slice selection and my wife and 3 kids really liked it but they have little reference to compare it to, just a trip to NJ a couple of years ago. There is a place in Illinois called Garibaldi’s that is closer to what I grew up on and it is my absolute favorite pizza place in the entire IL/WI area. They even make a decent cheesesteak but call it a steak and cheese. I eat there at every opportunity and the drive is just as far as ToNY; just ask my wife who smells the wonderful garlic that acts like a confession that I had pizza. Slice of NY comes in a distant second, but it is still overall second place compared to every other pizza joint that I’ve been to and that is quite a few. The slice is a real slice and not that square-cut, cracker-crust crap you find locally. I drove from Illinois to visit ToNY and would search it out if I was in the area again but would not make another special trip. Also, a friendly comment to the owner who comments on comments. Good for you to stick up for your business but do spelling/grammar check first. Simple errors in your replies make you look like you don’t care about details and that may reflect negatively while people are reading other’s comments. You made noticeable mistakes in both of your replies. BTW, the comments that were negative were likely made by people who are just negative anyway. It is a good place to eat.

The food isn’t worth it. Like typical local restaurants, the food tastes like it’s been in the freezer and has only been heated for your order or the daily use. The pastas were watery, tasteless and overcooked. Some had a rancid smell. The pizza was crap but it was the only somewhat decent thing they have. It needs to be cooked longer. Too soggy. I know ny style is supposed to fold and be eaten a certain way. But the crust could use a few more minutes in the oven. Oh, make sure they actually bring all of your order. Salads come with the pasta meals but chances are you won’t ever see them. Thanks for the lousy food, the runs, and ripping me off for things that I should’ve gotten with my order. We will be throwing out your menu and never ordering here again. Quality is important. Try and find some.

Great variety of pizzas, the food is very good, very courteous service. Abs. love that they are open until midnight during the week, and till 3:00 a.m. on the weekends. A lot of places don’t stay open very late in town, so this is a huge plus!

I’m from NJ, and since moving to Gurnee, have missed the NYC style pizza, which is somewhere between the Chicago cracker crust or deep dish. This place nails it – perfect crust that can be folded in your hands for you to take a bite free of the hot cheese. the only thing I’d change is to toss some oregano on top of the pie, but I can always do that at home.
