I’m not sure if this meal would qualify as coming from a top rated cafe. Could be because it’s the only place to eat in this area… We were hungry, so we ate, but if I wanted to eat burnt food, I could have stayed home! The sausage gravy was delicious and the coffee was strong- which was great. The atmosphere was honey and nice. The ladies serving us were nice and happy we were here.

Everything about our dinner was an enjoyable experience. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. We came in during a rain storm and they even turned off the fans for us.
We had the fried catfish plate and agreed it was the best we have had in a restaurant. The fish filets were thick perfectly fried! Top notch fried okra too! I really enjoyed my German slaw and onion rings. We finished our meal with yummy bread pudding for dessert. Oh my, it was so good, I highly recommend you try it!!! I was told they have a new cook to whom I would love to say, “thanks for such a great meal”. We will return asap!

I have to mention their Wall Of Fame! Covering their walls are pictures of our men and women who have served in the US military. I was touched to be sitting among such great company as those who have fought for our freedom!

Breakfast was incredible! Best gravy I’ve had (sorry, grandma!)!! I had the scrambled and didn’t think I’d be able to eat it all. I did! Great atmosphere, veteran friendly and great service! Will be back next time I’m down this way for sure!

After passing this place several times while traveling, I finally got the chance to stop. Very pleasant experience! The food was delicious and the service was great. We tried the fried mushroom appetizer and it was perfect! The mushrooms were so big they had to be cut in 4ths to eat. The batter was delicious and not greasy at all! The meatloaf was a huge portion and tasty! The fish and shrimp combo plate was big enough to share and the onion rings were perfection! Hand-battered and deliciously crispy. The patty melt was flavorful and gooey. And the desserts were delicious. Everyone got something different and no one was disappointed. The peach cobbler was big enough to share with 3 people. We will be back!

Going to this little restaurant was a great experience. We were passing through town and just so happened upon this place. It looks so tiny from outside, but it’s pretty spacious inside. Our waitress was very nice, and answered any questions we had about the menu. The burger was good, and the whole family enjoyed their meals. We had the banana pudding for dessert, and it was delicious. I’d highly recommend stopping here for lunch.

Nothing beats small town Texas cafes! The decor and tribute to our veterans was beautiful. Thank you. Amazing food and very attentive waitstaff. Chicken fried steak was some of the most tender I have had. Peach cobbler for dessert was piping hot and the serving was enough to share! Highly recommend Hwy 77 Cafe.

Haven’t been here in several years but we used to love going here. Not anymore. Just terrible all around. The waitress was on her phone about 60% of the time, had to flag her down to get her to get service. I asked if they had Miracle Whip and she said yes. She put Cool Whip on my food. The meatloaf had a can of stewed tomatoes on top, just straight out of a can, nothing to it. My husband and I both got mashed potatoes (instant) but his tasted sour and mine didn’t. The chicken fried steak was undercooked. The salad had 1 slice of cucumber and 1 cherry tomato on iceberg with the little cup of dressing only half full. There was no dinner roll with our dinner, despite what the menu said. The black-eyed peas were mushy with no flavor. At least the tea was good. There was not one single thing good about our meal. No drink refills offered. Had to go ask for our bill to pay. Such a shame because this place used to be so good with fresh food. No more.

Woke up and decided we needed some mom and pop, home style food. We found this place and it DID NOT disappoint. Food was fresh and delicious, staff was helpful and very polite. Love the atmosphere, very relaxing and has a great decorative theme. Absolutely recommend trying. We will certainly be back!! ❤️❤️

So glad we stopped here to eat! I can’t think of a comparable restaurant that has such delicious homemade food! The veggies alone are so good that I end up ordering the Veggie plate just to enjoy how fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned they are.
